I had a day off yesterday so Myself and 2 friends made the 4 hour drive to NY city. Now going to Ground Zero was one reason but not the only. We went up in the Empire State Building, experienced my rush hour subway ride(never again:laughsmile.gif.

NY taxi drivers suck. I would never drive into that city again if I could help it. It took us 4 hours to get there and 6 to get home(got lost twice, first time ended in downtown manhatten on a friday night frerotte.gifguns.gif.Ended up going the wrong way on a one way street in downtown. Driving there was a nightmare.

Empire State Building was cool, even though when one of the airliners would fly overhead, I had a very uneasy feeling.

One thing I noticed if they ever outlaw car horns in NYC taxi drivers would not be able to drive( of course an idiot from PA didn't help either)

Got to see Macy's, walked through Central Park which is really cool.

The first thing I noticed was where in the heck did all those people come from?laugh.gif

We went to where the WTC were and I know it would be nasty as I have seen it on TV, But I was not ready for what I saw. My stomach turned at the site of this. The carnage was unbelievable. One thing I saw really made me mad, within feet of the fences around it was people with card tables selling WTC models, pics and just about anything you could want. Maybe it was just me but I think that is wrong. To see the make shift memorials on the fence and areas around there was touching. Brought a tear to my eye as I thought of the kids with no Daddy or mommy. We paid our respects and moved on.

We went up the Empire SB after dark and that is an awesome sight.

If you have never been there, go just don't drivelaugh.gif

It's funny that you mention the cab drivers. When I first went to New York those bastages drove me near nuts with their constant honking.

Now driving there really wasn't that bad since I'm used to city traffic. The streets however were absolutely horrendous. I'm glad I was driving a SUV back then because those pottholes will swallow compact to midsize cars in a heartbeat...

I always tell folks the first time you go to NYC, go with a person who knows how to get around. Theres a few places you don't want to wind up lost. I drove a wrecker and worked for 4 years in Manhatten, and will not use mass transit in or out of the city. My favorite was riding my motorcycle into Manhatten, although as Laurent said, the pot holes can swallow you. EXCELSIOR........The Empire State is once again. People will always take advantage what ever way the can to make money, and it makes me as sick as you to see that sh!t, but in the land of free enterprise, what can you do. I miss Manhatten the most this time of year. The city is always a bit different around Christmas. I would give anything to skate with my daughter at Rockerfella Center. Last time I was there, we had been bar hopping (mobile batchler party) and by the time we got to the rink (around 1am), it was closed. Picture 5 drunk guys sliding around on the ice in darkness like little kids. Two cops showed up, but didn't bust us, and just let us go with a warning. It was all good till Dino beened one of the cops with a snowball in the back of the head. Didn't think I could run that far being that drunk. We all got away, and desided to get the groom to be laid, so headed over to the west side in search of hookers. Now it's pretty hard to get busted when in a limo, but the cops draw the line when drunk guys are hanging out the moon roof yellin to the ho's. For the second time in one night, we had the law on our arses. After the limo got searched, and they took everything they could find, again we got lucky and were let go without any real problem. We were told to stay out of the area or we would wind up in the pokey for the night. We still haden't gotten the groom to be serviced, so off to spanish harlem we go. We hook him up, but now we have to give up the safety of the limo so he can do his thing. I can say, it's not fun to stand on a corner in that area at 3 in the morning. Within minutes, a group of locals started to form across the street from us, and we could here what they were talkin about. They weren't planning on welcoming us to the hood. One of them started to yell at us, and that was all it took for me to start lookin for an equalized. Thank God

Mike was quick, and the limo showed up in the nick of time. Could have gotten ugaly with about 20 on 4 of us.

God I love to party in Manhatten.
