Woman sues man for $10,000 for standing her up on date: ‘He lied!’

After getting stood up, she finally got her date — in court.

A Michigan woman is raising eyebrows online after suing a man for $10,000 for — wait for it — standing her up on a date. A clip of the wild virtual hearing — during which the scorned woman got into a heated shouting match with the judge — is currently blowing up online.

The woman, named QaShontae Short, had reportedly filed a lawsuit back in 2020, in which she alleged that Richard Jordan “did not show and left on her mother’s birthday and her mom had just passed away,” per legal docs obtained by TMZ.

Short sued the accused date ditcher for intentional infliction of emotional distress on the grounds that Jordan had deliberately hurt her by standing her up.

Go figure: Their Zoom hearing quickly devolved into a circus after Short locked horns with the judge over whether Jordan’s romantic no-show job was a criminal offense.

“That’s [her charge] not something that’s really justiciable in district court,” said Judge Herman Marable Jr., who was presiding over the case in Flint, Michigan. “That has to be brought in circuit court.”

After some back and forth between Short and the judge, defendant Jordan weighed in, deadpanning: “To be honest with you, sir, I thought this was just gonna be thrown out.”

“We had a date, one date, and nothing else after that, and now I’m being sued for $10,000,” the incredulous man added. “I don’t see how this is gonna go any further. I think this is a waste of your time.”

Man allegedly sprays people with bear spray outside Lebanon restaurant

A Massachusetts man is facing several charges after police said he sprayed bear spray at people outside a restaurant in Lebanon.

According to Lebanon police, John Cahill, 41, from Massachusetts is facing six counts of simple assault, four counts of disorderly conduct, a single count of criminal threatening and DUI.

Police said a couple of patrons of the 110 Grill restaurant were crossing Plainfield Road Friday and the driver was not happy about it. He allegedly followed them in his vehicle and confronted them in front of the restaurant, in addition to other patrons there.

"He took a can of bear spray out and sprayed it at a couple of peoples' backs but ultimately ended up hitting five or six different people with it," said Lebanon Police Chief Phillip Roberts.

They said no one was seriously hurt, but bear spray is about three times more powerful that something like pepper spray, which is designed for people.

"It also has a real high, fast rate of delivery compared to the OC that's designed to be used on humans. As you can imagine, when you're trying to spray a bear that's attacking you, you want a high level with a large animal like that," Roberts said. "So it's a lot more concentrated, and the delivery is faster."

Customer arrested after threatening staff at Virginia smoothie shop

On Friday afternoon, a “disgruntled customer” was arrested after throwing what law enforcement officials described as a “temper tantrum” in a smoothie shop near Fredericksburg, Virginia.

According to a news release from the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office, 33-year-old Keona Lewis of D.C. was “unhappy” with the smoothie she received at the Tropical Smoothie Café on South Gateway Drive, and threatened to beat the employee who had served it to her.

Lewis allegedly continued by screaming at other staff in the store, going behind the counter and shoving an employee before being pulled away by a companion, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Before leaving the store, Lewis “swiped” four smoothies from the counter across the floor and tossed 14 snickerdoodle cookies into the trash, the release said.

No employees were injured in the incident.

Deputies located and arrested Lewis in a parking lot nearby.

Senator Susan Collins warns of violent threats: ‘I wouldn’t be surprised if a senator or House member were killed’

Republican Senator Susan Collins of Maine warned about increasing violent threats against lawmakers in an interview with The New York Times.

The Republican senator spoke about her concerns in the wake of a man smashing a brick through her home in Bangor, Maine, and as political figures like Donald Trump and his supporters deploy increasingly incendiary language.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if a senator or House member were killed,” he said. “What started with abusive phone calls is now translating into active threats of violence and real violence.”

The threat against Ms Collins came amid escalating threats against lawmakers. In 2018, after she voted to confirm Justice Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, she received a message that featured a beheading.

It's fine. Sure, some MAGA Q psycho might manage to kill Nancy or AOC or Bernie or whoever the right-wing boogeyman of the day is. BUT, after they manage to do that, Susan will be able to reassure herself that they've learned their lesson and it's time to move on.

NYC man arrested after allegedly killing victim who confronted him for not saying thank you

A New York City man was arrested on Friday after allegedly fatally stabbing a man who confronted him for his bad manners, according to police.

On Sept. 20 at around 11:30p.m., Joan Nunez, 37, opened the door of a smoke shop in Gowanus, Brooklyn for Edwin Pedroza, 42. When Pedroza walked in without saying thank you, Nunez confronted him, which led to a verbal dispute, according to police.

Video shared by the NYPD appears to show Nunez, in white, and Pedroza engaging in a physical dispute inside the smoke shop. At one point, Pedroza appears to push Nunez against a wall as he holds his hands up.

The pair left the shop as the fighting escalated, where Pedroza allegedly displayed a knife and stabbed Nunez in the abdomen and neck. He then fled the location on an e-bike.

In a 911 call Saturday afternoon, Susan Hootman tells the dispatcher: "My husband just shot our neighbors and I think he killed them."

Hugh Hootman, 75, told detectives his downstairs neighbor Henry Wallace yelled at Hootman’s wife Susan several days ago for leaving the shared laundry room’s door open, and when he saw 81-year old Henry Wallace at the mailbox Saturday, Hootman told Henry he needed to apologize.

"The neighbor downstairs just the other day shouted at me and swore at me regarding the washer and dryer," Susan Hootman explained breathlessly to the dispatcher.

Hootman told detectives when Wallace tried to push past him without apologizing, “I lost my temper” and he pulled out his gun and shot him several times.

KFC employee shot in St. Louis after customer told they’re ‘out of corn’

A man shot a Kentucky Fried Chicken employee Monday evening in St. Louis in a dispute that intensified when the restaurant ran “out of corn,” police say.

The shooting happened around 6:30 p.m. Monday at the KFC restaurant in the 5000 block of Delmar Boulevard in the Central West End neighborhood.

Investigators say a suspect was in the drive-thru of the restaurant when he tried to place an order, and one employee informed him the business was out of corn. After that, the suspect reportedly made threats toward the employee from the speaker box.

A short time later, the suspect pulled up to a drive-thru window with a handgun. A 25-year-old employee went outside to talk with the driver, then he returned to the restaurant with a gunshot wound.

Man upset about pizza order fires shot in argument with manager, police say

A Stroudsburg man was jailed on attempted homicide and related charges after allegedly firing a shot from a handgun during a confrontation over a fast-food order.

Stroud Area Regional police say they were called for the incident at 8:42 p.m. Friday at Little Caesars Pizza on Washington Street in East Stroudsburg.

The pizzeria’s adult male manager and two juvenile employees were inside the business, police said, and the suspect — identified as 37-year-old William T. Pabon — was in the rear parking lot, where he was taken into custody.

Through interviews and reviews of interior and exterior surveillance video, detectives determined Pabon had called the business twice to complain about not receiving his order, Stroud Area Chief Jennifer Lyon said in a news release Saturday morning.

Pabon was argumentative and asked for the business’s address, which was provided, police said. He allegedly then showed up, entered the business and began arguing with the manager.

“At some point he removed a handgun from his jacket pocket, while continuing to argue about not receiving his order, and approached the manager to gain access to the area behind the counter,” the release states. “The manager met Pabon at the access point between the employee and customer area and Pabon pointed the firearm toward the manager’s lower body and fired one round from the gun.

“The round struck the manager’s shoe, causing damage to his shoe but missed his foot,” the news release added.

Pabon allegedly continued to yell at the manager and invited him outside to fight. The manager refused, and Pabon left to get in his vehicle parked to the rear of the business, according to police.

A search of Pabon turned up brass knuckles, and a 9mm handgun was found in plain view in his vehicle, police said. The suspect did not have a valid license to carry a concealed firearm, investigators said.

Well, adding a new section to your web page ought to stop people from fighting.

Disneyland adds ‘courtesy’ section to website

Disneyland and Disney World have added “courtesy” sections to their websites apparently in response to an increase in fights at the theme parks.

The section was added to Disneyland’s “Top Things You Should Know” area.

There have been recent physical altercations and screaming matches at the Florida theme parks, and a fight broke out during the “Fantasmic” show at Disneyland in May, according to the Register.

Additionally, reports from Anaheim police indicate visitors have been removed from Disneyland or issued citations for violent encounters, the newspaper reported.

Police told KTLA that incidents at the park are handled internally by security.

When asked if the theme park had seen any kind of uptick in those kinds of incidents, Disneyland officials did not have any further comment, and indicated that the advisory speaks for itself.

More people coming forward with reports of road rage incidents involving same man across SoCal

As police continue their search for a driver believed to be at the center of multiple road rage incidents across Southern California, more people are coming forward claiming they're victims of the frightening attacks that have been caught on camera.

Eyewitness News received a call from a woman overnight who said she had an encounter with the same road rage suspect while she was with her 93-year-old mother in West Hollywood back in June.

The woman, who did not want to be identified, shared photos that show the suspect and a valet driver in a physical altercation.

"The Tesla was coming into oncoming traffic," the woman later told Eyewitness News. "We confronted each other, and I said to him, 'You can make it, just keep coming slow.' And immediately, he went into some kind of psycho mode and starts screaming and motioning."
