WCCO: Are People Angrier Nowadays? And What Can We Do To Manage It?

China

So I was walking a dog this morning and a guy walking ahead of me got to his car and opened it.  He then reached in, pulled out an empty plastic San Pellegrino bottle and threw it on the ground.  I said "Really?!"  and he immediately got angry and took a step towards me and said "What are you going to do about it?"  I didn't say anything, but I think he saw the dog and then he went over and got the bottle and put it in his car and mumbled something about how I should watch out.  At which point I immediately went on high alert making sure I didn't see him pull a gun.  He backed off, however, and got in his car and drove away.  I think he was embarrassed about being called out on his littering.

Texas Tuner Shop Boycotted After Owner Posts Video Rolling Coal On A Cyclist

The Ford driver now blames "cancel culture" for the consequences of his own actions.

People are really just assholes, aren’t they? You always hope humanity will turn it around, but we never really do. Anyway, today’s asshole is this guy. He drives a diesel Ford Super Duty and decided to roll coal past a cyclist on a Texas road while filming a video of the whole encounter.

The video was shot from the driver’s seat. It shows the driver saying “Oh my God, a cyclist.”

From there the asshole-ery really kicks into high gear. The driver slams on the accelerator, and from the passenger-side mirror you can see a cloud of smoke enveloping the cyclist.

This comes just a few months after a teen driver ran over six cyclists while rolling coal in the same state.

Also part of that modification usually involves changing the location of the exhaust. Sometimes in a harmless way - like up through the bed of the truck, directly behind the cab.

sometimes in an intentionally malicious way, like out the side under the cab near the rear, so that you can shoot it in the direction of someone you’re driving past ( as opposed to just directly out the back)

It’s generally configured so that yeah it’s kind of obnoxious as they drive around, but also they are capable of making it shoot ridiculous amounts of black smoke out on purpose at someone at a time of their choosing

basically it’s something done by tier 1 assholes.

Probably another classic case of hippies eating Wendy's at Arby's.

VIDEO: Customer claims he was assaulted by grocery store employees

A San Bernardino grocery shopper says he was dragged into a closet, kicked, and stomped on by employees after making a comment about customer service.

John Valencia said he was picking up some coffee and creamer at the Stater Brothers on E. Baseline Street around 8 a.m. Wednesday morning. The line to the only open register was long, so he asked a manager nearby if they could open another checkout lane. He said the manager ignored him.

"I just went and got in line, I was like, ‘Well, thank you, you know - great customer service.’" He said the manager then responded and seemed upset.

"At no time was I being aggressive, at no time was I being loud; was I threatening him or any way - I was trying to tell him like ‘you know bro, calm down’ - I just asked you to open another lane," said Valencia.

Eventually, after being asked to leave, Valencia said he was suddenly physically dragged into a closet.

"Other employees came and I can remember it was like they had me on the ground, and I seen them trying to close the door, and I was trying to kick the door open so they wouldn't close it, and they grabbed my legs and pulled them up," said Valencia. "Two of them started beating on me, then they started kicking my face and stomping on my back and stomping my head while holding me down." He said eventually someone said "Let him up, let him up."

Man arrested after pointing gun at people who didn’t thank him for holding door

A New Haven man was arrested by Hamden police for allegedly pointed a gun at customers after they didn’t say “thank you” when he held the door open for them, the department said.

Joshua Murray, 25, had held the door open for two female customers outside of a Family Dollar store at 1245 Dixwell Ave Saturday around 3:15 p.m. A witness reported Murray was upset after not receiving a “thank you,” leading him to point his firearm at them. Murray did not have a permit for the gun, which is a felony.

Bomb threats, canceled events, empty schools: How a bullying probe  paralyzed a Wisconsin town’s democracy

On the day of the third bomb threat, a bell echoed through Kiel, Wisconsin’s empty middle school.

Students had gone home days ago after the first bomb threat, and they would finish the school year virtually. Graduation ceremonies were postponed. Sports games canceled. The Memorial Day parade? Nixed.

Smoky clouds hung like the pall that had enveloped the town in recent weeks. Neighbors grew suspicious of neighbors. Residents peeked out of windows; few ventured into the streets of this northeastern Wisconsin town of 4,000.

Many who spoke to a reporter requested anonymity and out-of-view meeting spots.

“It feels like we’ve been hijacked by something bigger than Kiel,” one school parent said, sitting by the banks of the Sheboygan River. “A year ago, two weeks ago, I wouldn’t have expected any of this. It’s an unbelievable scenario.”

Even before the bomb threats, the possibility of violence chilled conversations. Those who spoke publicly risked stepping into a vicious vortex of Facebook brawls. By May, Kiel’s political factions clashed over the direction of schools, public libraries and even the local farmer’s market.

Kiel’s paralysis in late May and early June followed a descent into incivility that shares elements of school board fights across the country — fueled by a ****tail of political tribalism, COVID-19 anxiety, false claims of election fraud and racial tensions following the Minneapolis police murder of George Floyd. The town’s turmoil offers deeply divided Wisconsin an extreme example of what can happen when partisan misinformation aggravates the resentment and distrust already festering in a community.

I always hold the door for elders (damn, I'm 56), and I always get thanked.  I think my size *4'10* might have something to do with it, they think I'm young.

So I'm fine with that.

I actually got carded the other day getting a beer with my lunch.  That was fabulous.

I loathe holding the door for folks only to have them not acknowledge me.  Generally speaking, I loathe when any humans have a lack of manners.

Can’t say I’ve ever pulled a gun though 🤣

I loathe interacting with any humans.  Don't hold the door open for me so I don't have to acknowledge your existence, please.

You know what the worst is?  People blessing me when I sneeze.  Can we just not acknowledge sneezes?  Science has advanced and we now know that it is not your soul trying to escape your body.

That is why I say "gesundheit" which just means "health" and isn't steeped in religion.
