Workers call police after woman causes scene at Troy store because she doesn't like song playing

A woman got mad that a Troy store was playing a song she did not like so she caused a scene, leading to police being called.

Police said the 45-year-old woman was at Paradise Fruit Market on Sept. 27 when she heard the song. She told workers that the song made her sad and asked them to stop playing it.

When the workers told her they couldn't stop the song, she got angry and started yelling, so employees called police to escort the woman out of the store. However, the woman left and called the police to tell them she went to Sterling Heights.

An officer found the woman sitting in a vehicle on Parliament Drive west of Pall Mall Drive. As he was speaking to her, she got agitated, accused him of lying, and drove away, police said.

The officer tried to use his vehicle to block the woman from leaving but she drove around the patrol car and left. She was stopped, arrested, and later charged with hinder and obstruction of a police officer.

Man chokes coworker with metal wire at Phoenix company, police say

A man has been arrested after using a piece of metal wire to choke his coworker before others stopped him, police say.

On Monday afternoon, police arrived at a local company near 7th Avenue and Broadway Road where other employees said they had to physically stop 41-year-old Jay Christopher Case from choking and killing his coworker. According to the victim, he was working at a sand blasting machine when he saw gloves come around his head and felt a metal wire wrap around his neck, causing him to struggle to breathe. The victim said he and Case fell backwards, then he kicked Case in the face before coworkers came to help. After Case was stopped, he left the business.

According to court documents, the victim said he doesn't know why Case attacked him and said he never had any problems with him before. He also added him and Case rarely spoke to each other. Two witnesses also told police the two coworkers had minimal contact and were unaware of any issues between the two men.

California woman attacked on CTA platform, falls on tracks during marathon weekend

A California woman who was in Chicago with her daughter for the Chicago Marathon was punched on a CTA platform and then fell onto the tracks.

"By the time I had turned around, she was flying in the air," said Jessica Pagan, victim's daughter.

Pagan and her mother were leaving the McCormick Place Marathon Expo on Friday around 6 p.m. They had gone into the Cermak green line station when they encountered a man who appeared to have a problem.

"Talking to himself, he seemed angry and distressed," Pagan said.

Chicago police confirmed they'd arrested 32-year-old Gary Coleman after they say he repeatedly punched a 66-year-old woman on that CTA platform. He now faces four felony charges in that case. Court records show he was charged in a separate attack days earlier.

A chicken enthusiast is facing felony burglary and child abuse charges after allegedly striking a teenage worker in the neck because she was “unhappy with the service at the KFC drive-through window,” according to Florida police.

Alexandra Maldonado, 23, was arrested Friday afternoon following the confrontation at a KFC near her St. Petersburg residence.

Investigators allege that Maldonado, displeased with the service, walked up to the drive-thru window and hit the 16-year-old victim, “causing a visible red mark 1” x 4” in size.” Maldonado, who works at a Metro PCS store, reached into the drive-thru window to strike the girl, cops allege.

Gone to the dogs! Insane mass-brawl breaks out at the Miami 'Bully Takeover' canine show after women demanded refunds because their pets didn't win prize'

A massive brawl broke out at a dog show in Miami after angry contestants were allegedly denied refunds for the event.

A group of women, whose pooches competed in the Bully Takeover pet show at the DoubleTree Hotel at the Miami Airport Convention Center on Saturday, were upset that their dogs didn't place in the contest, PPV reported.

They pushed event organizers for reimbursement and were met with: 'I don't care what it is there's no refunds. I don't give a F*** there's no refunds.'

Footage of the incident shows violent chaos ensuing, with people throwing punches, grabbing each other and sending chairs flying across the room. Officials say the fight escalated quickly as others jumped in to get involved.

Although hotel security gained control of the situation almost as fast as the brawl erupted, organizers still had to shut down the remainder of the event.

Being alive these days is dehumanizing. It’s been headed this way for decades but it seems more fierce. We’ve gotten really good at capitalism and, by extension, exploitation in all its forms.

people, especially Americans, are treated as some cog in some GDP machine instead of, wéll, humans.

My own career is filled with ambivalence–in advertising, an art director, for the most part I exist to create feelings of inadequacy or that some need is unmet in the audience so they buy stuff. I had a short stint working  for a non-profit magazine but everything is about creating this lust for stuff or experience.

We’re The wealthiest country yet rank low on key metrics for happiness and well-being.

The pandemic highlighted our mis-prioritizations. Capitalism tends to mock the creatives (not like myself), but without the writers, artists, filmmakers, actors, etc—people would’ve been committing suicides in droves. Yeah, it takes quants and geeks to run a Netflix but it wouldn’t really be worth it without good content.

people are angry and can’t put a finger on it. It’s because we’re pulled apart from the top level things people need to be human.

Is it any wonder restaurants and other stores are having difficulty finding people to work for them any more?

Customer throws hot soup in cashier’s face after plastic lid melted, Texas cops say

A woman faces charges after she threw soup in the face of a Texas restaurant worker, police say.

The incident occurred at Sol de Jalisco restaurant in Temple after a customer said their soup was so hot that its plastic lid had melted, police said.

The cashier at the restaurant said in a TikTok video that she answered a phone call from the woman and apologized to her, also offering her a refund. The restaurant worker said she was called names by the woman, who later returned to the restaurant with the soup.

“I pulled my phone out and that’s when I said, “If you do not leave or calm down, I am going to call the police,’” the worker, who was not identified, said in her TikTok.

She said she offered to help the customer if she stopped cursing, but the customer proceeded to throw the soup at the woman’s face. Video shared on Reddit and TikTok shows the incident, with the woman and a man she was with leaving the restaurant after throwing the soup.

The worker said the soup was not as hot as when it was served, but the spices in it affected her.

“My eyes were burning, my nose was bleeding, I was in a lot of pain,” she said in a second TikTok.

Police said no one suffered any physical injuries during the incident. The customer has been banned from the restaurant and charges are pending, according to police.

Angry, violent, toxic: How extremists are drowning out local California governments

Three of Shasta County’s elected supervisors have the sort of conservative credentials that would normally guarantee a long political career in this Republican stronghold, where cowboys still drive cattle through the smaller towns and Blue Lives Matter flags are stickered across the back of pickups.

Supervisor Mary Rickert co-owns a beef operation. Leonard Moty is a former beat cop who became chief of police in Redding. Joe Chimenti is a former cop himself who headed the pro-development building trade council.

But for an increasing number of their constituents, that’s not enough.

For much of the past two years, vocal extremists have swarmed their board meetings spewing a toxic mix of conspiracy theories and violent rhetoric under the pretext of a rebellion against Gov. Gavin Newsom’s pandemic edicts — rules that officials in Shasta County were mostly ignoring anyway — and a variety of other complaints.

At one point, a man in a Grim Reaper costume stood before the Shasta County board and tried to set a surgical mask on fire. Another man announced he was placing board members under citizen’s arrest. Rickert received an email that she took as a threat. “Going. Going. Gone or Dead Woman Walking,” read its subject line.

“My job has really interfered with the time I could devote to removing you and your twisted garbage leadership on the BOS,” the writer said. “You are a disgrace and soon you’ll be just a bad memory.”

Then came Carlos Zapata, a local restaurant owner and militia member with ties to the Proud Boys, an organization the FBI calls an extremist group linked to white nationalism. Zapata warned the board at a public meeting that the people showing up at county meetings “are not going to be peaceful much longer.”

I've always heard that despite the flaws of capitalism as a system, communism and socialism are responsible for way more death and destruction, and maybe the raw numbers that are actually tracked support that, but the flaw in that argument and mindset is that it treats the exploitation of other countries in the name of convenience for Americans (and the wider westernized world) as an accepted evil and not something we should concern ourselves with.
