Perhaps that was an overstated talking point of this draft cycle.. I think the thing with 2022 is that we don't already have a couple of guys who are pretty much sure things to be top picks. Other years you often have that...one or two guys who have been playing at a high level and have already been mocked as top picks...and who often end up being top picks, or at least 1st rounders. In 2022 it doesn't necessarily look at that way, but there are plenty of guys who could easily rise during the season. So on paper right now it might look like a somewhat unsure or weak class, but it could potentially turn out to be a decent one, depending upon who rises and how many rise. Fair, but we’re not going to have a top 5 pick anyway. So a QB class that’s stacked at the top with a couple elite players is probably not actually what we want. That's true, but on the other hand if you have a class of guys who are late risers there might be a better chance of a couple of them falling as they might have one or two more questions about their game. I doubt any top guys would fall out of the top 10 or so, but if we're picking somewhere between 10 and 20 (my guess) then it might not be insanely expensive for us to move up for a guy. Howell and Rattler. Both of whom I like better than Wilson, Jones and Lance simply due to Lance’s lack of experience and pro-readiness.

HigSkin
Way too early and no way we're drafting #12 1. HOUSTON TEXANS: QB SPENCER RATTLER, OKLAHOMA The Oklahoma quarterback factory continues to churn. Rattler earned a scintillating 92.5 passing grade in his first season as the starter last year, and he is a plus athlete for the position. The biggest question will be size for the 6-foot-1, 205-pounder. 2. DETROIT LIONS: QB SAM HOWELL, NORTH CAROLINA Howell has the arm strength and accuracy to warrant such a selection, but the North Carolina offense is doing him no favors in his development. His tape is pretty much littered with go-balls and RPOs. His 132 RPO dropbacks last year were 25 more than any other quarterback in the country. 3. NEW YORK JETS: CB DEREK STINGLEY JR., LSU Stingley led the FBS in coverage grade as a true freshman in 2019 before taking a bit of a step back in an injury-plagued 2020 campaign. He’s got the size, length and speed — he ran a 4.3-second 40 in high school — that you want at the position. 4. CINCINNATI BENGALS: EDGE KAYVON THIBODEAUX, OREGON Thibodeaux put up 34 pressures in only seven games this past season, with a ridiculous 12 coming against USC in the 2020 Pac-12 Championship Game. He’s an ironman for the Ducks and averaged just over 67 snaps a game last year. He’s got the ideal frame for the edge, too, at 6-foot-5, 250 pounds. 5. JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS: DI DEMARVIN LEAL, TEXAS A&M Leal has shown inside-outside versatility at 6-foot-4, 290 pounds and earned himself an 88.3 overall grade for the Aggies as a true sophomore last year. He’s got the kind of twitch that warrants a top-five selection. 6. PHILADELPHIA EAGLES: QB EMORY JONES, FLORIDA This one is obviously a massive projection, as he’s only taken 95 career dropbacks. Jones is one of the best dual threats in the country, though, and he earned an 86.1 rushing grade on 35 carries last season. 7. NEW YORK GIANTS: EDGE NIK BONITTO, OKLAHOMA Bonitto led the entire country with a 93.6 pass-rushing grade in 2020. He’s an undersized yet explosive rusher off the edge capable of bending the corner with ease. If he can continue to add muscle, he’ll justify his decision to return to school. 8. LAS VEGAS RAIDERS: CB KAIIR ELAM, FLORIDA Elam earned a coverage grade of 89.8 in a part-time role as a freshman in 2019 and then improved that grade to 81.0 this past season. For his career, he’s allowed only 33 catches from 77 targets for 434 yards. At 6-foot-2, 193 pounds, the Florida product is built to play in the league. 9. CAROLINA PANTHERS: OT EVAN NEAL, ALABAMA Neal is a gargantuan tackle at 6-foot-7, 360 pounds. He played left guard as a freshman and then right tackle last year, where he earned an 86.4 run-blocking grade and a 73.1 pass-blocking grade. 10. ATLANTA FALCONS: S KYLE HAMILTON, NOTRE DAME Hamilton is a long and rangy safety, but he is also one of the most versatile safeties in the country. At 6-foot-4, 219 pounds, Hamilton is like an Isaiah Simmons clone who can stay on the back end in the NFL. 11. NEW YORK GIANTS (FROM CHICAGO BEARS😞 QB MALIK WILLIS, LIBERTY Willis is the single most physically gifted quarterback in the country. He’s got an absolute hose of an arm and moves like a running back at 6-foot-1, 215 pounds. The former Auburn quarterback is still just a little sloppy game to game heading into his redshirt senior year. He posted a 75.5 passing grade in 2020. 12. WASHINGTON FOOTBALL TEAM: OT JAXSON KIRKLAND, WASHINGTON In three years as a starter, Kirkland has seen his pass-blocking grade go from 77.1 to 79.0 to 86.6. He allowed all of two pressures on 124 pass-blocking snaps in 2020. 13. PITTSBURGH STEELERS: QB KEDON SLOVIS, USC Slovis had an up and down sophomore year after an outstanding true freshman campaign. He doesn’t quite have the arm of some others in this class, but he’s been one of the most accurate quarterbacks in the class for two years running. 14. ARIZONA CARDINALS: EDGE ADAM ANDERSON, GEORGIA If you want a breakout star in 2021, this is your guy. The former five-star recruit has played only 337 career snaps — with a career-high 130 coming last season — but he’s been about as productive as one can be on those reps. On only 196 career pass-rushing snaps, he’s generated 51 pressures. He’s still slim at his listed 230 pounds but has room to grow into his long 6-foot-5 frame. 15. TENNESSEE TITANS: WR GARRETT WILSON, OHIO STATE The rising junior is going to head into the season as WR1 on the PFF draft board. He’s so smooth as a route-runner and already displays high-level nuance. He racked up 723 yards and six scores in eight games last season. 16. MINNESOTA VIKINGS: CB TRENT MCDUFFIE, WASHINGTON McDuffie heads into his junior season having earned coverage grades of 83.7 and 77.6 in his first two years for the Huskies. He’s also one of the best tackling corners in the country, with only two misses on 64 career attempts. 17. LOS ANGELES CHARGERS: EDGE GEORGE KARLAFTIS, PURDUE Karlaftis is a power end who was banged up in 2020 but showed what he was capable of with 55 pressures as a true freshman in 2019. He’s an ox for opposing offensive tackles to handle and has also demonstrated the ability to kick inside at 6-foot-4, 270 pounds. 18. NEW ORLEANS SAINTS: CB MARTIN EMERSON, MISSISSIPPI STATE The SEC is loaded with corners heading into 2021, and Emerson’s game deserves more love. He broke up 12 of his 59 targets as a sophomore this past season and only allowed 33 catches for 306 yards. He’s a long playmaker on the outside at 6-foot-2, 195 pounds. 19. PHILADELPHIA EAGLES (FROM MIAMI DOLPHINS😞 EDGE DRAKE JACKSON, USC Jackson is still only scratching the surface of what he could be for the Trojans after recording a 66.6 pass-rushing grade last season. His high-end flashes are as impressive as anyone’s in this class. 20. PHILADELPHIA EAGLES (FROM INDIANAPOLIS COLTS😞 CB AHMAD GARDNER, CINCINNATI Gardner broke onto the scene with a massive true freshman campaign that saw him earn a 90.2 coverage grade and allow only 39.7% of his targets to be completed. He followed it up by allowing only 17 catches on 40 targets for 221 yards as a sophomore in 2020. He’s a touch skinny but has first-round ability if he can fill out his frame. 21. NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS: CB NOAH DANIELS, TCU Through four games in 2020, Daniels was shutting down his side of the field in his first year as a starter before getting injured. He allowed only six catches from 18 targets for 100 yards with five pass breakups. He’s an explosive dude who can hang clean 400 pounds despite weighing only 193 pounds. 22. NEW YORK JETS (FROM SEATTLE SEAHAWKS😞 EDGE KINGSLEY ENAGBARE, SOUTH CAROLINA Enagbare broke out as a junior in 2020, putting up an 89.2 pass-rushing grade in eight games. He probably would have been a Day 2 pick this year had he declared, but he returned to try to build on that for a full season. At 6-foot-4, 270 pounds, Enagbare has the frame everyone is looking for at the position early on in the draft. 23. DALLAS COWBOYS: OT KENYON GREEN, TEXAS A&M Green made massive strides from his freshman year when he allowed 28 pressures at right guard. He allowed only 10 at left guard as a sophomore. He’ll kick out to tackle this upcoming season, and he has the athleticism to stay there in the NFL. 24. DENVER BRONCOS: OT ABRAHAM LUCAS, WASHINGTON STATE Lucas is a powerful right tackle who rarely gets moved on tape. He likely would have declared this past year had the Pac-12 season not gotten significantly shortened. He played only 272 snaps in 2020. 25. GREEN BAY PACKERS: WR DOMINICK BLAYLOCK, GEORGIA Blaylock is a big projection at this point, as he put up only 310 yards as a freshman before tearing his ACL as a sophomore. He’s an agile slot receiver at 6-foot-1, 195 pounds, with terrific ball skills. 26. CLEVELAND BROWNS: WR CHRIS OLAVE, OHIO STATE Olave is one heck of a route-runner and is consistently productive down the field. It was quite the surprise to see him return for his senior season with the Buckeyes, as he would have been a second-rounder this year at worst. 27. BALTIMORE RAVENS: EDGE ZACH HARRISON, OHIO STATE While he’s not quite the Bosas or Chase Young, Harrison is next in the Ohio State defensive end pipeline. The 6-foot-6, 265-pounder earned an 86.6 pass-rushing grade as a sophomore in 2020. 28. MIAMI DOLPHINS (FROM SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS😞 LB MIKE JONES JR., LSU Jones was a surprise transfer after a breakout season for Clemson saw him earn a 90.2 coverage grade. He played the overhang role there but will likely play a more traditional role for LSU this season. 29. BUFFALO BILLS: S JORDAN BATTLE, ALABAMA Battle made a few spot starts as a true freshman back in 2019 before taking over full-time in 2020. He is a solid all-around safety with ideal size at 6-foot-1, 210 pounds. Battle earned a run-defense grade of 79.1 and a coverage grade of 81.5 last year. 30. DETROIT LIONS (FROM LOS ANGELES RAMS😞 WR TREYLON BURKS, ARKANSAS Burks is a physically imposing specimen at the position. Listed at 6-foot-3, 232 pounds, he went for 811 yards in only nine games last year, hauling in eight of his 12 contested targets. 31. TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS: IOL TYLER LINDERBAUM, IOWA Linderbaum is the top center on PFF’s draft board and one heck of an athlete for the position. He’s put on a good deal of weight since he first became a starter in 2019 and earned an outstanding 91.5 overall grade last year. 32. KANSAS CITY CHIEFS: EDGE BRENTON COX JR., FLORIDA Cox broke out for the Gators in 2020 after transferring from Georgia early on in his college career. He racked up 48 pressures on the year to go with an 80.8 pass-rushing grade.
Rex Tomb
Eh, those QBs will all be top 5 picks by next spring. They always get way overvalued as the draft draws closer. My guess is the Liberty QB goes top 3 or 4 based on the writeup.
Skinsinparadise
Watched a little of Elam, got to dive in a lot more soon. but on first blush, he looks like he can be special. Played well in both of his seasons thus far. Has some sick numbers againist the pass which I posted below. 5 picks already. He's 6 "2 and looks long and fast. Feisty-sticky in coverage and looks like he's not afraid to play the run. https://www.si.com/college/florida/football/florida-gators-cb-kaiir-elam-high-pff-radar-heading-2020-season Florida Gators CB Kaiir Elam 'High' on PFF's Radar Heading Into 2020 Florida Gators cornerback, Kaiir Elam, is set to make a major impact with the team moving into the 2020 season as the team's No. 1 cornerback. DEMETRIUS HARVEY JUL 8, 2020 As has been the case throughout the offseason, Gators cornerback Kaiir Elam is generating more buzz as one of the top players in the SEC, and was also, according to Pro Football Focus, the Gators' most valuable player in 2019. PFF cites their Wins Above Average (WAA) metric as reasoning for Elam's importance, noting that it was Elam, not former Gators cornerback CJ Henderson or quarterback Kyle Trask who earned the title as the team's most valuable player even though he played just 310 total snaps for the team last season. Elam was also chosen by the SI Publishers' Preseason All-SEC team, making first-team honors along with quarterback Kyle Trask and tight end Kyle Pitts.

Skinsinparadise
I am sort of a mixed bag when it comes to factoring RAS scores and PFF scores on prospects. On one hand I post all the scores I can find and weigh it in the soup. On the other hand sometimes I ignore it completely if it doesn’t fit what I think of a player. And I’ve argued on both sides of the fence as to their use. I am saying this here because I think we got some template about how this new FO thinks. There was a theme. And I am going to factor that a lot in the next round in 2022. A. High character B. Untapped potential/high upsides C. PFF scores mattered in the soup D. They liked athletes for the most part with high RAS scores How do I know they factored PFF? Rivera cited PFF scores in two different interviews I heard. Also I heard Del Rio cite a players score on the cone drill. I saw somewhere that our class as a whole was one of the highest RAS score classes of all time. Obviously they care the most about the game film. But their picks along with the references of why they picked them had narratives highlighting character and athleticism. In other words, if you listen to their post draft interviews their version of what is the gravy that tipped the balance for certain prospects is clear as heck. Gravy being the operative word. We thought for example they probably wouldn’t go for Parsons. Listening to their interviews post draft, I would double down that he was probably off their board Edited May 8, 2021 by Skinsinparadise 5

That would be horrendous for us, going OL when Malik Willis gets taken by a division rival.
terpfan
I had never heard of Malik Willis before this week and now if he’s not our QB next year I will be devastated. Thanks guys. 😂 1
Anselmheifer
That mock draft looks dumb. Is Christian Harris even in that mock? I swear, if we take an OT at 12 with Christian Harris on the hoard, I’m going to lose my ****. I love the idea of Elam, SIP.

Off topic but this picture of Stingley made me do a double take because Stingley looks like he has the world's smallest forearms because the tape is the same color as his jersey. We have a killer schedule, but even so, unless the defense goes completely backwards you have to imagine a floor of 7-9. If things go right, Washington has the defense and offense talent to get 9-11 wins.
Skinsinparadise
Just watched some Willis highlight for the first time, as a runner the dude looks absolutely sick. 4.4 looks to be on the money. https://www.al.com/auburnfootball/2017/06/meet_the_10_fastest_auburn_foo.html Julie Bennett Malik Willis, QB Auburn's freshman quarterback has already drawn comparisons to Nick Marshall due to his speed and elusiveness. He wowed the crowd at Jordan-Hare Stadium in April by going 11-for-18 for 157 yards through the air on A-Day. Burgold
There's a part of me that wonders about Tua's brother at Maryland. I think he flashed somewhat though Maryland has been a rough team for a couple of years. Might be an interesting sleeper.

illone
Malik Willis reminds me of Kyler Murray. The football jumps out of his hand effortlessly. also, that mock draft above is funny. 12th pick? 🤣🤣 Edited May 10, 2021 by illone
