FIRST ON CBS7: Cudd faces five new criminal charges for Capitol riot

Capitol rioter Jenny Cudd has been hit with five new criminal charges.

In a newly unsealed grand jury indictment, prosecutors charged the Midlander with corruptly obstructing an official proceeding of Congress; entering and remaining in a restricted building; committing disorderly or disruptive conduct in a restricted building; committing disorderly conduct in a Capitol building; and parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a Capitol building.

Cudd openly bragged about storming the Capitol on January 6 on her Facebook page. She told CBS7 that she’d gladly do it again.

She also asked a judge to approve her going to a trip to Riviera Maya, Mexico, this month with her staff from Becky’s Flowers. She says it was planned before the riot. She has not been granted permission to go on that trip as of today.

Movie at the Ellipse: A Study in Fascist Propaganda

On January 6, Trump supporters gathered at a rally at Washington DC’s Ellipse Park, regaled by various figures from Trump world, including Donald Trump Jr. and Rudy Giuliani. Directly following Giuliani’s speech, the organizers played a video. To a scholar of fascist propaganda, well-versed in the history of the National Socialist’s pioneering use of videos in political propaganda, it was clear, watching it, what dangers it portended. In it, we see themes and tactics that history warns pose a violent threat to liberal democracy. Given the aims of fascist propaganda – to incite and mobilize – the events that followed were predictable.

Before decoding what the video presents, it is important to take a step back and discuss the structure of fascist ideology and how it can mobilize its most strident supporters to take violent actions.

YouTube Is Taking Down Raw Footage From The Capitol Riot As It Tries To Crack Down On Misinformation

YouTube has removed two videos from independent journalists documenting the Capitol riots, including one from a progressive news outlet, causing frustration that the Google-owned company’s efforts to combat right-wing misinformation is harming good-faith journalism.

YouTube removed a video Wednesday from progressive news outlet Status Coup depicting a Capitol police officer getting crushed in a doorway by rioters, which has since been licensed by CNN and the Guardian, the Daily Dot first reported.

YouTube also took down a video from independent journalist Ford Fischer, who uploaded footage from former President Donald Trump’s speech and the crowd’s reaction before rioters stormed the Capitol—a key moment in the impeachment complaint against Trump.

In notices to both channels, YouTube stated that “content that advances false claims that widespread fraud, errors, or glitches changed the outcome of the U.S. 2020 presidential election is not allowed on YouTube.”

Both Fischer and Status Coup co-founder Jordan Chariton, told Forbes they were baffled and angry that YouTube can’t tell the difference between raw footage meant to document a historical event and conspiracy theorists intentionally promoting misinformation about the election.

It’s unclear if YouTube’s algorithm mistakenly flagged both videos in the first place, but in a series of tweets the company said Fischer’s videos don’t “include countervailing views or sufficient context of the claims made in the footage” and then demonetized his entire account. (YouTube did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Forbes and it has not responded publicly to Status Coup).

That policy, though, doesn’t appear to be enforced against news outlets, such as NBCNews and the Telegraph, that have uploaded raw footage of the speech without any additional reporting or context, according to the Daily Dot.

Jacob Chansley, also known as the QAnon shaman (and also known as Jake Angeli), has been moved from the DC jail to the Alexandria Detention Center, in order to receive his requested all-organic diet. While a federal judge ordered on Wednesday that Chansley’s dietary needs should be recognized, DC jail is unable to provide foods suitable to his shamanic diet.

Chansley—easily recognizable by his massive horns, painted face, and fur pelts—was among those who stormed the Capitol in early January. The Phoenix man’s lawyer claims that Chansley has lost 20 pounds in the last week, as he has refused to eat the non-organic food DC jail has provided him.

In a filing requesting the diet accommodation, Chansley’s lawyer wrote, “[N]on-organic food, which contains unnatural chemicals, would act as an ‘object intrusion’ onto his body and cause serious illness if he were to eat it. An ‘object intrusion,’ is the belief that disease originates outside the body from unhealthy objects coming into the body. In shamanic traditions, the body, mind, and soul are interconnected, and the well-being of all three are necessary for my client to be able to practice his faith.”

My headline:   Right wing Trump supporter and terrorist granted special government treatment on the basis of religious freedom for nonchristians.

‘Bullhorn Lady’ Mother in Pennsylvania Arrested Over Capitol Riot

A Pennsylvania mother of eight on the run from authorities for her role in the Capitol riot has been arrested by the FBI, according to federal prosecutors.

Rachel Marie Powell of Sandy Lake, Pennsylvania, “is in custody,” Margaret Philbin, a spokesperson for the Pittsburgh U.S. Attorney’s Office, told The Daily Beast.

Powell, 40, was apprehended Thursday night in New Castle, according to Philbin. She could not immediately be reached for comment, and does not yet have a lawyer listed in court records.

According to a complaint filed Friday in federal court, Powell is facing charges of obstruction, depredation of government property, entering a restricted building with a dangerous weapon, and violent entry/disorderly conduct. She was scheduled to appear before a judge at 3 p.m.

The filing says Powell used a pipe to smash a window at the Capitol, causing more than $1,000 in damages. An anonymous tipster first outed Powell to the FBI, it explains, and gave agents the link to Powell’s Facebook profile. There, agents were able to match photos of Powell wearing a distinctive set of earmuffs with those she was seen wearing at the Capitol.
