Sir Sean Connery aka Bond has died at 90

I really had an idea that I was wanting, for a scene in Casino Royale.

It's the scene where Bond has lost the poker game.  He's not only broke, he's been kicked out of the private room, and he's not even in the room where his target is.  Needless to say, he's a tad pissed.

I wanted a scene in the casino, where there's a cheer and gasps from the crowd.  Bond looks across the casino.  There's some old bald guy in a tuxedo, with his back to us.  A menacing-looking guy is glaring at him, and throwing down his cards in disgust.  A gorgeous babe (who we also see from behind) drapes herself across the winner.

The winner raises a hand, and a waiter instantly appears.

"A vodka martini.  Shaken, not stirred."

In Sean Connery's voice.

Without him there would be no Bond. I think Roger was actually picked first but was either still tied to his tv show or looked liked a pretty boy; so he wasn’t chosen. I can’t imagine the original movies without Sean.

I loved Hunt for Red October.

One of my favorite movies of all time was The Man Who Would Be King. He and Michael Caine were incredible together. He had an overpowering stage presence in anything he was in. I wish he had done On Her Majesty's Secret Service instead of Lazenby. It not only would have been the best Bond movie ever, but with him, Diana Rigg, and Telly Savalas, one of the greatest films ever. A great life.

RIP to the proudest Scotsman since Robert the Bruce.

He was on my list of actors where if he was in the movie, I’d likely watch it just for that. Because every time I watched a movie he was in, I enjoyed it. That’s a short list for me that includes people like Tom Hanks and Denzel Washington. Just every movie they’re in I wind up liking.

Funny, I was texting with my son a few weeks back about our favorite movies. I told him my favorites weren't necessarily 'great' movies. They were great to me because I associated them with who & where I saw them. Sean Connery 007 was a big part those memories with my brothers, mother & father. I've been lucky enough to share those same movies with my son. And my mother was 50% Scot so there was that, too.

One of the greats. RIP Sir Sean Connery and thanks for the memories.

I'm most definitely watching The Rock at some point this week.  I love that movie.

RIP, Sir.

Sean is a winner. He's gone home to **** the prom queen.

RIP to the sexiest Bond there was.
