Maybe that’s just what he should be doing. He's an excellent OC under strong leadership. He's a bad HC/OC due to a lack of leadership from a head coach perspective. There's a lot of political (not actual politics, folks ) aspects to being a HC at any level, but in particular college's higher levels and pros. You have to wear a lot of hats. Almost need to be a sound business man in some ways. Cultivate relationships, use connections, foster a tone. Gruden isn't a guy that is a "hat wearer".
