fish
WRs Jacquez Green and Reidel Anthony both came out of the University of Florida and played for the Buccaneers before signing free-agent deals with the Redskins during the offseason. But they might not be on a similar path much longer if Steve Spurrier's first minicamp was an indication.

Green was the talk of camp. He was the fastest receiver, caught the ball well and executed the offense of his former college coach with no problem. Anthony, meanwhile, was nowhere near as impressive. He didn't appear to have much zip or intensity and dropped some catchable balls. . . .

The Broncos might have a secret weapon for the 2002 season. Some in the Denver organization believe DE Paul Toviessi could emerge as a force. A second-round pick in 2001, Toviessi was off to a great start in training camp a year ago and played better than third-round pick Reggie Hayward, an end who established himself during the season and is expected to be a starter going into camp.

Toviessi missed his entire rookie year with an injured knee, but he was productive with his time off, adding close to 30 pounds. Now that he is up to 280 pounds, the 6-6 pass rusher has even greater potential. . . .

The NFL playoffs have become too big to keep out of prime time. The league and its television partners were so pleased with the results of later starting times for Saturday playoff games last season that the starting times for Sunday playoff games in the wild-card and divisional rounds also are expected to be moved back this season.

Instead of having playoff games begin at 12:30 and 4:15 p.m. Eastern time, the kickoffs probably will be at 2 p.m., and either 6 or 7 p.m. . . .

Just because new Bucs coach Jon Gruden moved Shelton Quarles to middle linebacker doesn't mean the Bucs are down on Nate Webster, who appeared to have the job all to himself after Jamie Duncan's left for St. Louis. In fact, many believe Webster will win the battle in training camp and emerge as the Bucs' starter. The Bucs have rebuffed trade offers for the third-year pro.

Webster responds well to competition, and the Bucs hope Quarles' presence brings out the best in him. Having Quarles split the reps at the position also gives Webster's surgically repaired shoulders more time to heal. . . .

Yeah, the Eagles flirted with RB Warrick Dunn, but that doesn't mean they are ready to divorce RB Duce Staley. In fact, they paid Staley a $500,000 roster bonus on March 15, the day Dunn signed with the Falcons.

In addition, the Eagles have no plans to acquire another premium free-agent running back, and they aren't seriously considering selecting a back high in the draft. So look for Staley to be in the Eagles' backfield on opening day.
Carlito Sway
Glad to hear 'Quezzie' is working out. We have enough WRs to go around anyway, even if Anthony is only a burner at best.
NavyDave
So if Anthony sucked in camp I wonder if that mean the holder WRs from last year have a chance or that we are going WR in the first round?

Hopefully we can land one of the prized linemen and address WR later
