what caused the skins to lose

I came here and talked a lot of sh*t and now im here to say that we won because of the skins coaching. I thought we were going to lose big with how easily davis was running the ball in the first quarter. I don't know why they decided to rely on banks to win the game especially the last series. I would have ran davis on 4 straight plays since he is the strength of your team. If the skins didn't start out 0-5 the would have easily won the division.

Agreed 100% payton. It's bad enough to lose, but it's hard to accept when you lose without taking your best shot. We've been talking all season about what a lousy offensive coordinator Jimmy Raye is - his playcalling in the red zone has cost us dearly, and not just in this game. Putting your fate in Tony Banks' hands is suicide. At least we won't have to worry about that clown next year, I just wish he'd take Raye with him.

Good luck the rest of the way, hopefully the next time we see you it will be in the playoffs...

It hurts and pains me to say it, because I know what I am going to do from this point on, but, they didn't want us to win. Marty says he's not rebuilding, but that is the only type of QB Tony Banks is. He is scraps from the bottom of the barrell that nearly empty with mediocre or less available talent, yet Marty relies on him, when he could run, as though Banks is Montana. Sorry, Marty's stuck in the 1980's and doens't really know HOW to shift. Parcells and Gibbs can still coach, but when they went into GM problems, they got out. That is the problem. Certain players are playing their dam*dest and it's not enough, as some were misdiagnosed by the person in charge to bring them here (Marty Schottenheimer). That translates into losses when you don't expect them. Marty's trying too hard to keep from making the same mistakes of the past and creating a management-owner nightmare for Snyder, and possibly losing some fanbase support, economically.

He also hires an OC that seems to be mediocre, so I think personally, Marty thinks were dumb and is only in D.C. for drinks and money like to outlaws in the wild wild west. They with Norv Turner would be perfect Cowboy coaches, because they are gonna' just kill the Skins (yet they are on the same team). I said it about Norv, I said it about Deion, George, and now the Schottenheimer family and Jimmy Raye are take and rip your heart out from the team. Weren't you abused enough for 7 years??? He sold Chip Banks on the plan and made people rally behind him and Kosar, then he did the same with Derrick Thomas and Joe Montana. That is the "selling" part. Only Montana and Marcus Allen had tasted the rings.

Well that means Chuck Knoll is the lord of the rings with 4 in his tenure.

Marty, the Redskins fans, other than me, are intelligent and faithful, so don't mention SB's unless you know what the he** you are talking about! How would you know anyway, you've never been there.

Thank God we had George Allen, Vince Lombardi and Joe Gibbs!

Tony Banks was the best of a bad lot of options at quarterback for this team back in September and that is indeed as you said in another context, a reflection of the coaching staff.

Marty is not evidently of the belief that the quarterback position is the key to winning football games in the NFL, that special teams and defense will carry you.

We have seen this philosophy before in George Allen, Chuck Knox, Marion Campbell and Buddy Ryan.

None of these coaches earned a Super Bowl victory despite having teams with winning records, especially Knox and Allen.

It is inconceivable to me that Marty spends his #1 pick on a receiver and then leaves himself wide open at the position necessary to get that player the football in the offense.

Without a good quarterback receivers are wasted. For Gardner, I am sure he is learning a lot this season. Unfortunately, he could have learned much more with a more accurate and more established quarterback who sets a high standard of performance for his teammates.

Banks has never been that kind of confident presence. He gives every indication he is out there in the wildnerness trying to find himself just like the rookies and younger first and second year players.

By year 7 of your career, the light should have started to go on somewhat, at least with all the starts Banks has gotten.

It is not as if he sat on the bench for 5 years like Brad Johnson did in Minnesota.

Banks has had starting jobs before in this league. He has failed once he gained some attention to follow it up with any degree of consistency or commitment.
