Summer of 2020---The Civil Unrest Thread--Read OP Before Posting (in memory of George Floyd)

Um. What?

Quote

Testimony in the trial of Derek Chauvin resumed Wednesday with the former officer’s defense team arguing that George Floyd saying, “I can’t breathe,” while police attempted to load him into the squad car was a form of resisting arrest.

If he had loaded an extra bullet into the chamber and fired his gun, a bullet would have been pulled from the magazine into the chamber.  I'm still sticking with this being an assassination by the police.

Unless it malfunctioned.

*not saying it did, just that it is possible.

So, the... ‘theory’ is that the dude fired at the cops and then pocketed his gun?  While getting shot at?

And they didn’t check to see if his gun had been fired?

Were that the case, the spent casing would still be in the chamber, no?

It's possible that after he fired the chambered round, the spring in the magazine failed to push the next into the chamber.

I had to buy a new magazine once because I'd had it loaded for so long that the spring was "depressed".

Pretty much what Mary said.  The slide and ejector could work fine but have a magazine problem.  It is common when people leave mags loaded too long causing spring to be compressed.  I recommend to people, and I do it myself, to rotate mags once a month.  Or change out their springs regularly.  It’s a problem with people who keep a loaded gun somewhere and just never touch it.

The fact that guns can suffer from depression is one more reason why we need to be careful about who owns them.

From an author/word specialist, I can appreciate that. :ols:

I was trying to think of the opposite of "expressed"...but Buzz was much better with "compressed".
