So, Houston gave Watson a 27 million signing bonus. If they traded him that signing bonus would come due right away, what's left of it and decrease if they use the June 1 designation. 27mil was spread out over 5 years I believe.  Subtract 2 years 10,800 if they wait till June1. The new year.  That leaves 16,200 as there cap hit.  No dead money if they trade. That is still lower than their Cap hit for Watson.  If they cut as was stated above, its not going to happen because of guaranteed money years later in the contract that will become dead money.  Another thing to think about is the team he is traded to can Redo the whole contract if they wanted.  He is a 30plus mil a year QB on market.  Example 7 year 228 mil contract with  80 million Bonus spread out over 5 years 16 mil a year.

Example

Year    Bonus     Salary     Cap Hit

1          16,0000   14,0000   30,0000

2          16,0000   16,0000   32,0000

3          16,0000   16,0000   32,0000

4          16,0000    18,0000  34,0000

5          16,0000    18,0000  34,0000   Time to Redo Contract with new Bonus or Cut after June1.

6           0              37,0000  37,0000

7           0              39,0000  39,0000

This how I remember it , Could be wrong.  Being a Redskins fan you learn this. You pray He Does not walk out on you like Houston. Or you just finish and take over his Houston contract.  which is a better deal but you may have better chance pulling off trade with new Bonus.

Allen is our top rated pass rusher and Dlineman.

I believe that is cause Payne and the rest of the crew make it easier on him. I think Allen is the easiest to replace and like Kool b lie said it solves the problem of having to try and sign all these D Lineman. I like Allen a lot. But id love Watson in a Washington Uni even more.

Mark Ingram just got released. He would be a better option then Barber.

Why? I thought Barber was fine, good team player, did his job well. Gotta believe the Ravens have moved on from Ingram for a reason....maybe cause he couldn't stay healthy? Barber stayed healthy all season.

I'm on the side that we need to upgrade. Barber's a pure plodder. I'd rather have Jamaal Williams than Ingram though personally if we look FA.

Gotcha....I think we gave Barber a 2 year deal if I'm not mistaken; I seem to remember being surprised at that when it happened cause we still had AP when we signed Barber.

Barber's not hot garbage or anything but IMO offers little more than the occasional wiggle.

I liked him in college.  He struggled in Philly but rebounderd last season in Oakland.  If he's cheap I am interested.

I think he stays in Oakland.  Aside from Ruggs and Renfrow (who is strictly a slot WR), he's their only WR worth anything.  Tyrell Williams was a huge FA bust.

You need your 3rd RB to play Special Teams.  Ingram can't.  JD is too small and you don't want Gibson out there.  Barber played teams.

So is this additional to what the projected cap for us or is it already factored?  If the NFL needs to review it, I presume it will be added to current projections?

No, the expected values we've seen include this estimated rollover.

https://overthecap.com/salary-cap-space/

Cap Space = (Team Salary Cap) - (Active Cap Spending) - (Dead Money)

Team Salary Cap = (Base Salary Cap) + (Carryover) +/- (Adjustments)

edit: it is crazy to me that Philly has 22mill carry over and is still way over 2021.  Some big escalators in there.

Not a free agent but wasn't sure where to post. Wondering what people would realistically give up for Stafford. Would you give up this years 1st and next years 3rd?

Matthew Stafford done in Detroit as Lions now look to trade longtime quarterback on big contract https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/matthew-stafford-done-in-detroit-as-lions-now-look-to-trade-longtime-quarterback-on-big-contract/ via http://cbssportsapp.com

Probably the qb thread fits better.  And I was still going to respond, but then realized I’d just be compounding the ‘issue’, lol

If the Raiders cut Tyrell, I'd take him on a 1 year deal. He was good with the Chargers, underachieved in 2019 with the Raiders and tore his labrum before the season started last year.

28 years old, $15M cap hit and the following injury history:

2014: hamstring, missed 4 games
2017: left ankle fracture, surgery, missed 12 games
2018: quad contusion, missed 4 games
2019: sports hernia surgery after the season
2020: torn acl, surgery, missed 12 games

I'm not surprised he's only garnering a 3rd or 4th
