On that Youtube video, You see L. David flatten McKissic like a rag doll when he was trying to block him.  Rivera complemented David where David came to the sideline to greet him so hey maybe there is a chance?  😀

Was even cooler than that. Lavonte made a point to go to Ron and said "Coach Rivera, I respect you so much" :D I'd say there's definitely a chance!!

Lavonte David just loves football and loves being out there on the field, that's a guy you never have to worry about coming into camp out of shape.

In that mic'd up video he went out of his way to shake Rivera's hand and said "I respect you so much man". Hes a bit older at 30, but definitely has a few more years left in him imo. His career stats are very similar to Bobby Wagners yet he never got near the hype Wagner did in that 2012 draft.

Lavonte is younger and more accomplished Pro Bowl / All Pro-wise than London Fletcher was when he signed with us in '07. ;)

Allen is also the closest to getting a monster payday and if we can somehow land Watson and use our cap space to pay his bloated salary we're set for at least the next three years.

Doesn't he have degenerative arthritis?  Anyways, if this team keeps making progress, he's not going anywhere.  The guy went to high school in Ashburn, fer cryin' out loud.  If he has a chance to help bring WFT some of the glory it used to have, he'll be content making a couple million less (after taxes) than he would elsewhere while watching his childhood team return to being a playoff force.  And he gets to play with the 2 best DEs in the league.

If this game shows anything, it’s that good LB play is everything. White and David are stars.

They were monsters. Felt like one of them or Winfield were in on every play.

Swap out Bostic with David and WOW, our D has dramatically improved!

Are we interested in lavonte david or something?

He is one of those guys that could be brought in and be an immediate high impact player for this roster. He also would cost a ton so its hard to tell if they after him.

I would think our ex LB head coach and DC would be salivating over a guy like him

I like the hype but the more I see of it the more I wonder if Tampa lets him out of that building

If the Bucs re-sign Lavonte, we can take a run at KJ Wright. He's like Lavonte Lite and would still be a very good get for this defense.

Anything is possible but the Texans are starting the 2021 season at $20M in the red and if the NFL decides to raise the cap ceiling to $195M then the Texans are pretty much at net zero when it comes to cap space, teams that try to trade for him can't assume any of the accelerated dead cap hit to lessen the blow so it's all on Houston.  I guess they do have the option to split the $67M over the 2021 and 2022 seasons but that's brutal and I can't see them doing that.

If Watson is cut, then the Texans would have 67M dead-money and negative 51 mill cap hit.  They can get something for him, so they won't cut him...

2nd edit to add OTC link: https://overthecap.com/player/deshaun-watson/5596/

Only the pre-paid bonus is a responsibility of original team.  A trading team will take over the 2021 guaranteed salary (10.54mill) and the 2022 guaranteed salary (35mill), reducing the dead money to 21.6mill (see below) and a negative hit of 5.6mill.  IDK if you can designate a player as a post June 1st trade (like you can a cut, edit: you can see below....if they did this they could save 10 million this year and suffer through 16 dead next year when they hope the cap will rise...), but in that scenario the Texans could actually save cap this year by splitting the hits (5.4 dead this year and 16.2 mill to 2022).  Either way, the 67 mill will not apply in this case because they absolutely could find a trade partner.  5 mill cap hit would suck, but they can probably find that elsewhere if they decide to do a pre-June 1st trade.

"One thing to note here is that the June 1 designation applies to trades as well as cuts, though June 1 cuts are all we are likely to hear about in salary cap discussions"

Keim making the point about the QB spot affecting how attractive places are for WRs.  Makes sense.  Money talks but sometimes the offers are similar....I think it was part of the reason why Cooper choose Dallas over us last time.

well, as I pointed out elsewhere, at the very least Samuel has played with both Allen and Heinicke
