The Outer Space Thread

That was so cool.  I'm pretty excited about SpaceX.  I have always been interested in space flight, particularly in manned missions and exploration.

I feel like today was a big step towards making it much more possible for the masses to have a chance to actually experience space flight in the foreseeable future.  I always found it ironic that so many kids would say they want to be an astronaut when they grow up, and were told it can happen for them if they work hard in school.  If a 10 year old boy says he has a goal of becoming an NFL quarterback, they are told that is very unlikely because there are so few people that can actually achieve that goal.  Well, so far, the average ten year old (male) would have had a much better chance of becoming an NFL QB than they have had of becoming an astronaut that actually goes to space.  I think today may have changed that.

Great job Elon and the gang!!!

Elon gets a lot of ****, and sometimes deservedly so.

Same time he put everything he had on the line to give our species a puncher's chance at the future.

I hope that's how he's remembered, there are still plenty of ways for him to continue this 50/50 way of folks looking at him.

Think I agree his legacy can't be put in context until he's dead, having said that, I do have reservations about what he will do after he does get his colony on Mars.  Let's face it, he's going to do it, then what?

Possible reason.

The kid who thinks "I'm gonna be an astronaut", who doesn't make it, has much better career options than the kid who didn't become an NFL QB.

(I keep remembering an NFL preseason game.  Week 4 preseason, 4th Q.  Some player makes a big play, but one of the announcers cautions the fans not to put much stock in that one big-looking play, because of the level of competition.  His quote was "Remember, two weeks from now, half these guys on the field are gonna be working for UPS."

He is a crazy dude. But he is probably right about reopening the factories (no debate I’m sorry I know y’all don’t want to hear it)

Thanks.  Aren’t you just a ray of ****ing sunshine.

Lol, I was thinking it.  Conscious thought to not say it.

Keep flipping between this and the cops thread, not sure whether to 😂 or 😢 at this point.
