And where are these new fans coming from?  Mars?

I think further south.  Most of my family is from NC and the 'Skins were the only station/broadcast they could get in the day.  Most are still diehard Redskin fans even though Carolina is now in the picture.  If fact, don't know a single person from NC that pulls for the Panthers.  So, I think they could easily steal part of their fanbase just based on what people are use to.

Holy **** dude you are ****ing hilarious!!!

How do you presume that the Redskins are going to attract BETTER fans? :rofl89:

Maybe he misspoke and really only meant that he's CLOSE! Like Bruce.

But that **** is funny. What did he do anyway? I don't remember his 4th quarter heroics.

It isn't that funny.  Just the fact that I still know many people out of the DC area that pull for the 'skins.  And I mean, really pull for them.  Not all these "fans" that turn on the 'skins every time something goes their way.  A lot of these people were raised on the 'skins and even though they're in Panther territory now full support the 'skins.  Only wish the so called fans that were closer had the same mindset.  That is part of the reason I think Dan needs to move the team.  No way he recaptures these "tudes".

Screwed the pooch on that quote.

”once we build the fan base around better fans”

do what?

Yeah man, just think the DC fans are too jaded to support the team no matter what happens.

Nope. On time, on target. Brave to fit it in - but he put it in the only place he could.

Yeah, I can't say I agree with this assessment.

But I also can't say I agree with the ones saying it was awful when watching it back.

I think his timing was absolutely off. I also think the ball was in a good place.

So I actually think, if I had to pick a side here, I'd side more with Martin... because whether or not the timing was off or not, the play resulted in a touchdown.

But I think most of the credit should go to McLaurin.

He was way late  on the throw.  If he threw it before or on Mclaurin's break it's an easier TD.

If he throws it earlier, he has to put it at his waist or the CB has an easy bat. And if he does that, he gives the S the opportunity to take an angle to pick it off. To be able to throw it that low he can't put as much zip on it as he has to get over the O-line and let it drop. He can't throw it directly. This further allows the S time to get over for the easy interception. Look at the video @MartinC posted. And the look at the one below.

In fact he threw it the only time and place where it either becomes a TD or an incomplete. Now McClaurin makes an amazing catch. In fairness that probably deserves to be an incompletion. But those happen even when everyone does everything right. In this case McClaurin makes a great play - as he has been doing but Haskins put it the only place it the ball had a chance of being caught. Haskins trusted his receiver and he made a play.

So to say the ball was thrown way late is just not true. Had he thrown it when you wanted him to it had much more chance of being batted down or an easy pic than a TD. Instead Haskins took those two outcomes out of play and replaced it with either TD or incomplete. I encourage you to rewatch the play and slow it down. Look at the arm angle neede to ocmpelte the pass early. Look at where the S and DB are. When you slow this down you realize Haskins made a nice play.

There is a lot to be critical of Haskins for. He is still very much a work in progress. He may never turn out to be even a solid NFL starter. But at least let's give him credit on the plays he does make. This is one of them.

I don't listen to 106.7 ever but do follow some guys on Twitter that work for that station, Grant Paulsen being one of them.  Yes Paulsen was a Kirk homer, but if this tweet is what got him blocked by Haskins, than it's just more fuel to that fire of how soft he is.

Are you serious?  "Fans that turn on the skins every time something goes their way"?  I could see labeling fans this way if the team simply had occasional droughts.  However this team has been pretty much dreadful during the entire 20 year reign of Snyder.   Snyder & his lackeys treat the fans like dirt - either ignoring them, insulting them or treating them like 1st graders.  Any other team would have fired Allen years ago, but Snyder retains him so that he can golf & pal around with him - the fans be damned.

You honestly believe that this would play out better in another city?  Lol.  The only way that could possibly occur would be if the team had a change in philosophy, revamped the FO, removed Snyder from personnel decisions & somehow achieved long term success.  However that same scenario would result in much better fan support in DC.  Any relocation would result in a few year increase in fans, but that would rapidly dwindle if the team continued their awful practices in running the worst organization in the NFL.  These issues are 100% on the team - not the fans.

Ironically, Stephen A. Smith has argued that Spike Lee, in his endless and unwavering support of the Knicks, is the problem with the Knicks.

Which is it?

Haskins is the worst looking QB I have seen us draft. Not accurate and doesn't throw right. He is actually truly awful. Nate Peterman and Blaine Gabbert are the only guys I can say were definitively worse than him.

You must have just started watching Redskins games then because Patrick Ramsey,John Beck and Danny Wuerffel were terrible.

Don't have it in me to bail on a team, my fandom is too deeply rooted.  But ironically this topic being discussed here is a WP featured article today. Dan IMO has 100% earned all of these issues with fans.

Some say well other teams have been bad, too.  Yeah but they've had ownership changes and multiple GM changes.  The fans here have been stuck with the same thing the whole time.  It's total apples to oranges.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2019/12/11/they-grew-up-rooting-redskins-now-theyre-cheering-ravens/

Jason Simmons decided enough was enough Oct. 7, when Redskins team president Bruce Allen told a group of reporters that the organization’s culture was “actually damn good” at a news conference to announce coach Jay Gruden’s firing.

“That was the last straw for me,” said Simmons, a 38-year-old lifelong Redskins fan who grew up in Bowie and now lives in Cincinnati. “How can you be so obtuse and blind?”

Dominique Nelson cut ties with his favorite team last December, when the Redskins fired their president of business operations after less than eight months on the job.

“It had been multiple things, from [Robert Griffin III] and the Scot McCloughan fiasco to the Kirk Cousins contract,” said the 33-year-old IT specialist, who, like Simmons, was raised in a Redskins-obsessed household in Prince George’s County. “It was just like chipping away, chipping away, chipping away. That was it. I said I can’t do it anymore.”

...The erosion of the Redskins’ once-proud fan base has, by all appearances, continued in Allen’s 10th full season as owner Daniel Snyder’s top lieutenant. It’s evident in the sections of empty seats and opposing-team supporters at FedEx Field, as well as the $4 tickets on the secondary market and the season-plan holders who vow they won’t renew. Amid the exodus, a small but seemingly growing contingent of Redskins fans have done the once unthinkable, switching their attention and allegiance to the Baltimore Ravens.

Fox’s broadcast of Baltimore’s win over the San Francisco 49ers two weeks ago earned a 12.5 TV rating in the D.C. market, outperforming the 11.7 rating for the Redskins’ win over the Carolina Panthers on CBS in the same 1 p.m. window. The difference was even more pronounced among younger viewers, according to NBC Sports Washington. Former Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe (D), who is good friends with Allen and has spent years advocating for a Redskins move to the commonwealth, tweeted a photo of himself at that game, wearing Ravens gear.

The Redskins and Ravens went head-to-head in the 1 p.m. window again Sunday. Washington’s narrow loss to the Green Bay Packers earned an 11.3 rating in the Washington market on Fox, while Baltimore’s win over the Buffalo Bills earned a 7.9 rating on CBS — a narrow gap that would have been difficult to imagine a decade ago.

Serwer, who moved to the D.C. area as an 8-year-old in 1968, can’t pinpoint the moment he determined it was time to break up with his childhood team; rather, it was his gradual realization that he has spent the past two decades playing Charlie Brown to Washington’s football-yanking Lucy.

“You begin to feel like a sucker, right?” Serwer said. “It’s been 20 years. I understand sticking with your team when they’re down, but why be a sucker?”

Indeed, in the 20 full seasons since Snyder bought the team in 1999, the Redskins have made five postseason appearances and won two playoff games. The Ravens have qualified for the postseason 11 times and won a pair of Super Bowls during that span. While Baltimore has been home to the more stable and successful of the area’s NFL franchises since the Browns relocated there in 1996, the Ravens have never been particularly likable outside of Charm City, and they’ve often been just as likely to spark feelings of indifference as envy among Redskins fans.

I can get being supportive of the team through thick and thin - here is what your comment ignores. It's more than just win or lose. It's more than injuries, poor draft picks and failed FA selections. It's that the FO has been arrogant and even antagonistic to the fans.

The entire attitude is you should just trust us because we are smarter than you and either way really don't give a **** what you think. Add to that they refuse to employ a standard structure. Dan has done nothing to improve the game day experience. We never know what's going on unless they have no choice then it's with a huge spin trying to explain how they are all great and everyone else is at fault. This FO under Dan has turned us into an embarrassment.

I have recounted several first hand accounts from ex-players on how they are treated and how Dan is a real problems. This is why you do not see many of the true legends of Gibbs team involved. And no, I am not saying I am some insider. Not at all. I have been at some events with ex-players there and have been able to talk to them candidly. In fairness, many would honestly not even remember me, at least not without some memory jog. But I do remember them and our conversations.

I think Jerry J. is almost as bad except at least he does not hide in the shadows. Which would actually be Ok for Dan if the GM were out front. The only time we see Bruce is when people are saying nice things about the team - he took a nice victory lap after the draft.

So let's stop trying to act like the Redskins fans are being fickle when in fact I am amazed at the resilience of the fan-base to last this long. What is going on right now is not bailing early, it's we have had enough. Tired of being the FO kicking us around and just assuming we will be there.

Enough is enough!  That's why I stopped going to games a few years ago. Give me something to root for - give me something to proud of and I will be back. It's pretty simple. I would love nothing more than to start going to games again. But I am not supporting the actions of this FO. I cannot in good conscience do that.

Patrick Ramsey was light years ahead of where Haskins is as a rookie. If Haskins looked anywhere close to what Ramsey did as a rookie, people would be proclaiming him a future hall of famer. In a competition to win the starting job he could never beat Beck or Wuerfell at this point. Don’t start throwing out names of former Redskins and pretend Haskins is better. He’s not. Haskins ceiling might be higher than some but actual results are simply not there yet.

I really hate people sometimes.  The need to make categorical and false statements out of an emotional need to support whatever they're feeling at the moment.

Ramsey often looked so good and like a closer that an NFL broadcaster said during the middle of a comeback (ultimately failing because Lavar Arrington freelanced and blew coverage on a fullback) "This kid is awesome! "

One of the disappointments of Gibbs 2 was his favoritism towards Brunell that ruined two seasons instead of rolling dice with more physically talented Ramsey. 2005 was only year that maybe justified brunell but once he hurt his knee vs Giants, he was useless.

I'm legitimately confused how Ramsey wound up on the same list as Beck and Wuerrfel.
