Per Schefter: Andrew Luck Retiring from NFL

Wacky conspiracy time:

What if Luck's desire to retire is somehow tied to......wait for it....their assistant coach's house being shot up?!?!

Andrew fears for his life now because he was caught up in something nefarious with coach Frazier!! That's it! Now he's lost his focus and just wants to get away, and is only using his injuries as a cover!! And Trent Williams is also involved, too, also, as well!!...That's why he's not here, and he's using HIS injuries as a cover too, also, as well!!

It's all so obvious, really.

I'm not above Madden style speculating.  Trade Haskins* and Trent to the Colts for their entire draft, Ditka style, or their next two firsts plus more.  Tread water with Keenum for two years, building depth and draft capital.  Go all in for that sunshine looking kid from Clemson in 2021.

*Remember, I'm a Penn State guy so I didn't like Haskins in college, though I root for him now that he's wearing our colors.  Still, that Clemson kid looks legit.

This is all Mike Shanahan's fault. He should have been tanking the moment he arrived in '10 to grab Luck in the '12 draft.

Luck being coached by the Shanny's plus Mcvay would have maximized his incredible talent

He would have died on the plane ride here for draft day.

What good is money if your body is too beat to **** to enjoy it? Pretty sure Luck already comes from money anyway, and is Stanford educated. Im sure he'll be fine.

Oh. No doubt about that. He has already pocketed 97 million anyways. But half a BILLION is worth a few surgeries IMO.

This is a seismic development. He was a generational prospect and one of the best QBs in the league when healthy. That he is choosing to walk away before he turns 30 due to health reasons should scare the NFL and keep them awake at nights. This is a real problem

its also an indictment of the Colts FO and their inability to build a competent OL to protect such a prized investment until it was too late

Maybe, but when you have to deal with the rehab, the the phys. therapy and such, then knowing your organization doesnt really have your back because your the Mighty Andrew Luck and you can do metahuman things with inadequate help, well... Im sure that gets old, getting beat to a pulp every Sunday.

Colts were gifted a generational talent that they clearly did not deserve.

I'm not sure, but have the Colts been described as "dysfunctional" very often?

For starters:

- Owner is/was a drug addict

- Assistant coach has his house shot up with 80 rounds of amo...think about that: a group of men drove out to the suburbs to shoot up a Colts coach's house

- Another assistant coach arrested for drunk driving

- Hired head coach who later changed his mind and stayed in New England--the GM even scheduled a press conference to announce his new head coach

- Previous generational franchise QB bad-mouthing the franchise to the press ("I'm not in a very good place for healing, let's say that. It's not a real good environment down there right now, to say the least.")

- Neglectful (or incompetent) OLine development to protect current generational franchise quarterback who was "gifted to them on a platter"

- Generational franchise QB in his prime retires 2 weeks before start of season

And to add insult to injury, you have this doozy lol...

From an article back in February:

Chris Ballard, Frank Reich enjoying ‘normal’ offseason with Colts

There were no Josh McDaniels questions, no requests for the latest Andrew Luck update and no one wondering if – finally for cryin’ out loud – the offensive line will really, really, really be fixed.

“Not one Luck question,” (Chris Ballard) said, breaking into laughter. “You’ve got to be kidding me.”
