Mind if I highjack this thread a bit for hardware/software advice?  Need some experience with Apple products and Adobe photo products.

Short version is I’ve been doing PAO work for my command for a while.  I was using all personal equipment and GIMP on my PC for any editing.  I got my command to actually buy equipment for me and I went a little nuts expecting it to get chopped down.  Well it didn’t so now we have a Nikon D750, 4-5 lens, MacBook Pro, Adobe suite, etc.  Then I went and bought myself a new IPad Pro a few days ago and used my work login to download all the Adobe stuff (I was approved to as long as I’m not using it to make money).  I’ve watched some videos and done the tutorials on the different programs (Photoshop on IPad doesn’t support RAW, WTF???).  My biggest issue is now trying to figure out how to use Creative Cloud to move photos back and forth from laptop to tablet, open files in the dozen different apps Adobe seems to have, and how to convert RAW to whatever the hell PS on a tablet will support.  And any other pointers someone may have.

I have no experience in Apple or Photoshop so help is appreciated.

Wow!! Very nice. I have an Epson photo printer that prints up 17 inches if I need bigger than that I have access through my site to professional printers at low prices which I use when I sell photos. I have used Costco before a few years ago and the use the same type of Epson I used just a bigger version and it came out great. I love the middle one!!!

@TheGreatBuzz,I won't be much here for ya on this one. Sorry in advance. While I've used an IMac and now an older Macbook pro for all of my digital darkroom work over the past 12 years,(when I first went to Mac),I don't have photoshop.  I primarily use Lightroom,Nik,and occasionally Photomatix. I do have a "Photoshop" alternative called Affinity Photo but don't use it as much as I should,(great for panoramics and focal stacking). Cool that you have all that stuff though. :)

I primarily use BayPhoto out of California through my website since the Camera shop that did all my printing before closed its doors.  Costco isn't my favorite,(here anyway). My old Epson is just about history, but in a pinch I can get my stepmom to print some stuff for me. She has one of those commercial grade Epsons and the results we got were outstanding.  Note: For those times when I do feel like putting a frame around one of my pics,I make my own. The garage shop should be done in a month or so and I'll get in to that more.

Oh yeah.

I'm not sure because I avoid tablets at all costs, but have you tried converting them in Photoshop to Photoshop raw? I use CS 6 so that may have changed.

I dunno, I try to stay out of Photoshop as much as possible.  It's something I want to get better at but it's a pain in the ass.

Lightroom is much more my speed.  It'll ingest RAW files and you can export to Jpeg.  Certainly doesn't have all the editing power that Photoshop does but for basic filters, increasing/decreasing things like exposure, shadows, contrast, sharpness, it's great.

I use Photo Mechanic to look at the contact sheets, import the photos I want into lightroom and use Pfxer to take over my keyboard and use the keys instead of sliders to make adjustments.

I use Lightroom mostly also.  I just want to use PS when I'm feeling artsy.  And I like to use tablets just because they're more compact.  But I am having trouble getting photos to move between that and Macbook without having to use external hardware.

Yeah, I'm not sure what to do there.  I could understand wanting to use a tablet but I also just prefer more horsepower.  Horsepower.  All.  The.  Time.

Secret Cove Beach (Pa'ako Beach) in Wailea, Maui last week.

I've been there. That place is amazing! You can go snorkling in only 2 feet of water and see amazing things. You captured it well.

Its amazing what the newer camera phones can do. We went for sunset and saw two couples getting married and some local dudes trying to snorkel and spearfish.  The waves were too choppy with the rocks...plus even after 20 years the Pacific is still freezing to me.

One more from the trip...Ululani's "No Ka 'Oi" shave ice (combo is liliko'i, mango, and coconut).
