If Martys back next year...

I'm hoping for the GM. It's to much for one guy to handle. And Marty the GM gets full blame for failing at the #1 position:QB. He didn't have an adequate QB in place to lead the 2001 Skins. If he did, then we might have been talking about playoffs right now; instead of 2002.

I think Dan Snyder needs to push this:

1. If not a GM, then an assistant who does most of the GM work anyway.

2. Raye must go and if Marty refuses; then Marty can walk.

MArty walked away from the Browns by refusing to change staff, so it can happen. This is one time where the owner needs to tell the coach that the OC needs to be improved on.

The good of the franchise is at stake.

I doubt Marty will fire his entire family. We have to wonder how well Sage will come along with Brian Schottenheimer coaching him, and that's probably one of the main reasons why Banks blows so bad.

The entire staff is AWFUL. Jimmy Raye is a total moron, and he must go. I cannot believe how horrible the playcalling was at the end of the game.

The Redskins have been outcoached in a number of games this year. The second Dallas game. The Eagles game. The Bears game.

The team has shown an inability to execute the basics such as managing timeouts, getting people properly lined up and listening to the snap count to avoid motion penalties (which the Redskins currently lead the NFL).

Reminds me a lot in some ways of Norv's teams.....always giving the other side an ill-afforded advantage.

Regarding yesterday's blunder in having Banks spike the ball on third down.......if the coaching staff is so controlling that the call to spike the ball is coming in from the sideline to Banks and the qb is unable to exercise any lattitude to run the offense at all, this team is in a lot of trouble.

No quarterback worth his salt is going to follow that kind of program.

I can guarantee you that Bernie Kosar and Joe Montana were not told when to spike the ball or throw it out of bounds to save a timeout.

Marty and his brother are defensive specialists and need to recognize that they need to bring in an offensive mind that can get this offense cranked up and productive.

If Marty continues to moonlight as the offensive coordinator this team is going to be in a lot of trouble.

Good article on that subject...

I tend to agree that we need to dismiss Raye, and look into bringing in a GM, at least to assist Marty in those areas.

I would then have two questions, will Marty go for any of this, and if not, how would the Skins be impacted if Dan was seen as meddling again?

look, Marty gazed at the cameras in training camp and told everyone this was a team that could contend for the NFC title this season. He told fans in the practice sessions that the Skins would be back in the playoffs very soon.

Now, perhaps that is next season. But, you don't come in and raise those kinds of expectations and then go 6-10 or 7-9 and keep your credibility.

Parcells came into a 1-15 program with the Jets and got the team to 9-7 the next year. I don't remember him predicting playoffs or making any promises other than "this team won't finish 1-15 again."

For some reason Marty really pushed the button back in the offseason in terms of stoking the fires.

Now he has to pay the piper. Losing twice to 4-10 Dallas? Being 3-4 at home so far? And 0-3 with a playoff berth on the line?

Looks like a clear case of going back to the drawing board to me.

Luckily he has a core of talent he inherited, and added to with Smoot and Gardner, that may pull Marty out of this and make this team a playoff team in 2002.

But there is a lot of work to do.

So, let's roll up the sleeves and get to work and leave the predicting business to the Psychic Friends Network. smile.gif

Let your play on the field speak for itself.

Well, I forgot. When did we hire him? I know it had to be after the draft.

Really I would prefer a GM like a Ron Wolf. I know chances are slim on that. If Marty were fired though, then we need to get a gm first.

We were only outcoached if one can blame bad execution on the coaches although in some games. I could never understand Raye's play progression (calling a trick play when your down multiple scores when you've done nothing that would set up those plays -- second Eagle game. Something Jeff George said in tc bothered me, he said that this offense wasn't really a timing offense, why the he!! did Raye call this a modified wco then. In another game, I heard we did not run alert routes (that's how the wco can destroy 2-deeps and man-ups).

Can't blame any losses directly (we should have never got into the position) on the qb but if we had a creator like Brunell, maybe we'd have pulled out some of those losses.

If we don't change Raye, I hope the failure of the offense was because he didn't call some of what he wanted to because of personel (no TE of even near Gonzale's stature, a bad qb situation and a defense that at first would have had trouble tackling my grandmother, now just my mother).
