I'm talking about him being pissed about no one visiting while he was in the hospital there

Think about this possibility:

- Trent gets a health scare--which anytime anyone is told they have any form of cancer it's a legit scare

- He thinks back over the years where he could have acted on the lump on his head but didn't because it wasn't diagnosed as cancer, and gets pissed off

- No teammates fly out to visit him while he's in the hospital...he tells himself he "almost died" and nobody seems to care that he did

- Tells himself that since his salary isn't guaranteed he could have a career-ending injury and no additional money would be coming his way--afterall, he saw what happened to Alex Smith, but Smith had guaranteed $$ coming regardless of his injury. Smith even had money that would become guaranteed if he became injured. Trent probably has none of that.

Trent starts thinking **** this team, I had cancer and they didn't detect it (regardless of the reason), none of my teammates cared enough to visit me during recovery, and my career could end on an injury I get during practice...and I'm not gonna have any more money coming my way. Thinks to himself "Trade me to a team that WILL give me guarantees and that has a medical staff that WILL detect cancer early", even if he has no idea if another med staff would have done so.

- Asks to be traded, Bruce says no because he waited too long to ask

- Sees marquee players all over the league hold out to get what they want, thinks screw it, I will too

- Underestimates how big a son-of-a-**** Allen can be, especially when he feels a player or his agent isn't acting in good faith--like when Cousins didn't even make a counteroffer like Allen expects players to do--and Allen feels "good faith" would have been Trent asking for a trade back when there was opportunity to replace him immediately. Trent only remembers how pleasant and accommodating Allen probably was when doing the extension several years ago...

- When the team decides to start listening to trade offers, nobody offers up much, which Trent sees as an insult...starts thinking Bruce and Dan set things up to appear as if Trent's value across the league is minimal, and they did so just to "embarrass" him...not because his actual value might be lower than he thought.

Now he has to report to the team in order to be given credit for another year on his contract with the Skins...and he does so with no extra money, no attempt to honor his trade request, feeling as if no teammates cared if he lived or died, and no team willing to give up anything of value to get him. And believing he "almost died" in the process.

I need a minute to process this, that's the type of endorsement that pretty much kills any expectation for the players to want Snyder to sell the team as well and almost garuntees they'll come out in his support during a legit protest.

Thoughts?

What made you think the players would side with the fans in the protest of Snyder to begin with?

Frankly I'm inclined to believe they wouldn't side with anyone and stay out of it, but if I had to choose, I would choose Snyder 9/10 times.

This looks like it generally is something you treat by cutting it off. According to this chemo is not typically indicated and metastases are extremely rare.

It also sounds like it can be tough to diagnose because it feels like a scab or scar.

I’d love to hear more because if TW has the most common type/severity of DFSP then it seems he’s blowing it out of proportion.

Anyone have more info?

Do we know that's we had?  If so, it is both a "minor" problem and something that can be removed surgically.  So both sides are kinda right in this situation

The "almost died" and "get your affairs in order" comments definitely seem to be exaggerations, imo. And here's the thing: there will be oncologists and dermatologists on the interwebs who will eventually be weighing in on how accurate Trent's description of things are...always happens with high profile athletes and health issues.

Or, more likely, they minimized the risks of him delaying getting it checked out until the offseason in the interest of suiting him up on Sundays.  Look at all of the injuries the guy's played through.  For 6-7 win seasons.  Do you think that's a coincidence?  Look at all of the quagmires this medical staff has been involved in.  Only difference between those and these, was those guys weren't good enough to attract attention to it.

And since you pretty much can't do anything medically without the team's approval without the risk of voiding your contract (see NY Jets and Kelechi Osemele), either you play along or getting labeled as 'not a team' guy.

Waiting a few months isnt gonna make a big difference, unless it something like a pilocytic astrocytoma, which it wasnt.

I thought T.w. is claiming something like 6 years passed.

As far as avoiding his contract, I'd be very surprised if that was true.  There are in fact a lot of patient rights laws that explicitly forbid an employer from seeking outside medical help from a licensed physician.  The employer, and insurance,  might not have to pay for it -- but in general, in America you cannot forbid someone from seeking a second opinion from a licensed professional.

Well this is a ****ing bizarre turn of events. Three hundred and thirty pages of (very enjoyable) speculation, accusations and general waffle based on virtually no solid information at all and now this. I'm not quite sure how to process it to be honest, although I'm fairly sure that the '**** him' crowd are reassessing their position right now.

I’m not quite ready to call Trent a liar considering he did legitimately have cancer and did legitimately have a tumor removed from his head. Not saying you’re calling him that but no doubt the whole event really freaked him out as it would most.

So he may not have seen a specialist because he didn’t want to pay out of pocket for it?

From DeAngelo Hall in September:

While talking with Allen about potentially trading Williams, Allen said, “You don’t ask for a trade in minicamp. You ask for a trade in January, February, before free agency, before the draft, that’s when you ask for a trade."

This is where all the vitriolic Anti-FO arguments fall down for me in this particular situation. I hate Bruce, I think the guy is a total dickwad... but.... how do some people not see Trent was totally wrong with how he handled it too. Want to get traded, fine, act like a damn professional and sort your business out prior to FA and the Draft. Much as Allen is a ****hole, he is totally right in what he says in this quote.

Trent either wants to get traded and makes that clear in January/Feb or he puts the damn pads on and goes to work for another season. If he wants a new contract or to up his guaranteed money (which I disagree with anyway - nobody had a gun to his head to sign it and he's missed about 30% of the games he should have played due to injuries) then he probably didn't need to cause all this drama, just talk to his buddy Dan and I'm sure he could have sorted something out.

There's something really off with this from Trent's side. He's hyperbolic about the medical stuff - not to diminish it at all as cancer is definitely ****ing scary - but the blame is not on the medical team in my opinion. Like at all. Sure, they're a ****ty crew and are to blame with Colt etc, but Trent had 6 years where he chose not to get a second opinion. Nobody told him he wasn't allowed to, and he has vaults of cash and 8 months a year to get it done. The cancer he has identified is incredibly hard to spot as noted from the articles online. Had he got a second opinion, they may well not have diagnosed it right either. Nor the 3rd or 4th opinion for that matter. None of which he sought anyway, and is now trying to point fingers and is blaming everybody else for. If he genuinely felt someone on the medical staff had done him wrong over this then why the hell wouldn't he get them fired. If it's that life-threatening and as dramatic as he makes it sound, and he has lost trust with the organisation because of it, why would he let that person continue to treat injuries and diagnose his teammates?

I don't know whether he really wants out or he just wants to shore up his contract and get some more guaranteed $$ but whatever his motive, it just ain't sitting right with me - too much about his actions seem out of step with the story he's telling.

This is a bit of a stretch.  Bruce didn’t take calls on the dude and wasn’t open for business until 24 hours before the deadline when general consensus and logic indicate his market to be the lowest.  And if there is any truth to what Bruce was asking for- Ward and a 1st and the like, why even bother? Considering it’s so unrealistic.

Our culture is damn good.

hey, this says they believe it.  They're saying "we did right by this guy and anyone who looks at the facts will agree about that"  Honestly, I don't see how this action sets up that use of that particular piece of mocking Allen's words

Good. I want the facts to speak for themselves on this. If the team has ****ed up then someone needs to be hung out to dry. If Trent is portraying the story using some "alternate facts" then he needs to own that and deal with the fallout.

The fact the organisation have specifically sought this out rather than the NFL imposing it suggests to me that they're probably pretty confident they haven't done any wrong from a medical standpoint.

Why would they sabotage the future value of a trade asset?...Remember, it was reported that Allen said they'd revisit the trading of Williams after the season is over. Having it put out there that no team thinks Williams is worth more than a 3rd doesn't do them any favors.

I don’t doubt for a second they believe it.  That’s the problem, dude.

Why would Bruce do much of what he’s done here?  Because he’s a proven nimrod.

Whatever report your citing that he’s only worth a third has every bit as much validity as the reports that he was worth a first before Monday.

yeah, I'm definitely not saying he' a liar, but I have zero idea if he's the type of person who exaggerates to make a point--I work for a guy who does that, and I always call him out on it because I'm ultra-literal lol...

I have no idea what his reasons where.  I'm just saying I'd be surprised if he is contractually bound to receiving medical opinions and care exclusively through the teams physicians, including medical care for non football related injuries.

That would make the team physicians waaay more liable to get their asses sued to Mars in a situation like this.  T.W. woulda had good case to sue them and the NFL for millions, if they contractually bound him and there was any chance that other legitimate medical opinions existed on how to treat his condition.  Im talking like crazy money, put the NFL out of business kinda money, I just dont see any medical malpractice insurance willing to take on THAT kinda liability

While I do blame Trent for not seeking his own separate opinion, I'm not willing to let the Redskins off the hook here. How can Dan Snyder continue to employ someone as your representative who constantly makes a joke of your franchise? No other team goes through all of this drama, I could maybe give a pass if there was success on the football field, but you stink there too.

Everything surrounding this team screams of incompetence.
