W/L

Super Bowl wins

What else do you judge a GM by?

Plus he comes across as an ass whose sole motivation is self-interest and self-glorification regardless of what it does for or against the team.

I don't care if he's all these things while we win Super Bowls.  We just aren't winning Super Bowls and he's been here for a decade.

Let's be fair - if they wee winning him coming off as an ass would not as big a problem. He would still be an ass but there would be more tolerance. So for me you could have stopped at W/L and SB Wins and been just as right...  🙂

But it's hard to give a jerk like him the benefit of the doubt when there is very little success during his time here.

Here's the conclusions I'm jumping too:

1 - Trent choose to keep his matter with the organization between him and the team.

2 - Adrian, who's a 34 year old RB, has no incentive to tell the media that the only team keeping him employed messed up.

Are you implying because Adrian Peterson didn't know about it that means it doesn't exist?

Remember when we signed LOL Clinton Dix  Reuben Foster?  And they said that they consulted his teammates?  And his teammates were like, "Um, no."

EDIT:  Thank you @Cooleyfan1993 for the correction

I'm going to take a guess and say if Williams is traded he's going to the Browns or the Rams who seem to be in win now

I came to say if the Browns want him, they can come get him and just hook us up with multiple draft picks and sit Haskins for the year. lol (Gruden will never go with this plan. lol)

Oh I completely agree that I wouldn't care if we were winning.

But the fact that we're not winning AND he's an ass is where the disdain comes from.  If he just weren't winning and were McCloughan or Casserly, then there'd be nothing personal whatsoever.

Uh...i think You’re thinking of the foster signing, where Bruce or Doug told the media they consulted with the Alabama guys, and they said no.

We didn’t sign HHCD, that was a trade.

On recent communication with OL Trent Williams:

"I talked to him a little while ago. This is personal between him and his agent and our organization, and we will handle it accordingly. Trent knows we all want him back. I want him back in the worst way and I know his teammates want him back in the worst way, but at the end of the day there is a business side of pro football and that’s what he is about right now. So, we will find out what happens..

So looking back at this quote from Gruden it takes on a little more meaning. I wonder if this was a slip-up because he then goes on to talk about it being about the business side of football.

Yep, you're right.  HHCD was one that they claimed to have talked to.

That's even worse that it's about Foster.

So because he's not in their long term plans they don't have to take his medical requests seriously? I'm trying to fit your response into the Williams news we are working with.

My sister in law has gone to hundreds of specialists for the past 5 years to find the source of her nerve pain. Sometimes getting a diagnosis with the human body is difficult. Expecting a football doctor who deals with knee injuries and hamstring injuries to diagnose a malignant brain tumor is ridiculous. I’d be happy if Trent stayed her for the rebuild, but he should be a little woke about his current situation.

Hard to draw any type of conclusion.  The only thing confirmed is there is drama.  Given that Trent hasn’t been around and didn’t show up, confirms at minimum there is drama of some type.

I agree it's hard but many people are (not saying you, as i don't think you did) but some have already decided Bruce pissed him off and decided why - poor handling of injury, drafting his potential replacement - along with those that have decided he is **** for doing this now (even though it's possible he is not doing anything now if AP is to be  believed).

And you may be right about the drama - certainly appears that way from the outside. But not sure it's a slam dunk about him not being here as he could not practice if he were here anyway so that may have been agreed to. Also, if I remember he tends to not come for these things anyway preferring to work out on his own. So this could all be mostly manufactured to generate news since it's running pretty slow right now.

Again, I don't know either way and more than anyone else. But it is getting interesting.

On this end, I get it - hard to come to the conclusion it has anything to do with Bruce pissing him off.  But in the end, Bruce and ultimately Dan is in charge of how everything goes down here, so if it's a beef that has anything to do with anything really, it ultimately falls on those shoulders.

Why is this board still riding the death to Allen mantra. The man has pulled 3 phenomenal drafts out of his ass in a row. What more do you want? It’s nauseating.

I want him gone for one.  And the "phenomenal drafts" remain to be seen.

True but we do not know if it really is even an issue. Or that it may be something very minor that has been blown out. Either way, really doesn't matter. People will believe what they want to anyway.

The plot is thickening. My intent for now is to wait and see what the full story is.

He's under "control" now...or is he??

Yes... for two more years... I'm suggesting they redo his deal for 3 years, "keep" the 23.5M that is in his current deal, add a year and 15M of $$$...

I don't really care how they structure the guarantees, but they could do it so he gets more money in years 1&2 (so he's happy for 2 more years, and they expect to have to cut him or redo his deal in yr 3).  That would work well for the skins who would really only be committing to him for 2 more years...

This is BS. Trent needs to go on record with his gripe. Cousins pulled the tactic to extort a release. Stop this now! Enough already! Trent is a WELL PAID PLAYER not a baby that needs coddling. If you wanted to be traded the time was before the draft to ask for it. Thanks Cousins 2.0

He is well paid but I can see him asking for more money based on where he's ranked in pay across the league for offensive linemen. However, his play has slipped and he is over 30 years old, we're not gonna have him forever and his injuries are adding up. I'd be curious to see what his value is across the league. Hopefully this all gets resolved and he has a great season for us.

All 3 quarterbacks (not including butt fumble) had leg surgeries last year. That’s some bad ol play. Trent is probably pissed that the team didn’t find the problem with the tumor. But show me a doctor that has the answer to every single problem. It’s always recommended to get a second opinion. These guys are millionaires. They don’t have the burden of debt to prevent them from seeing a specialist.

Well, I still think its ok to point the finger at Bruce, since owners are largely untouchable in this world.

Wasn't he voted the worst GM last year?

Oh I get it, it's all up to speculation at this point.  But Jay pretty much said the issue is between Trent and the medical staff.  We can always look to Jay to say more than he probably should!
