I agree and what he said really bodes well for the Redskins. It does leave me with some questions:

1 - How does Charlie have Trent's medical information? He has not worked with the team since 1999 and the medical professionals have sworn an oath not to share patient information. We might like the info, but we have to get a better understanding of the source.

2 - Charlie is doing a very pro-team info dump. That team he does have close ties with, so is it fair to say he's bias?

3 - If the medical records show one set of info and Trent says another isn't it just a he said, they said? Unless Trent signed off on the medical report it's just the teams notes. Trent could then say those notes are not true.

Anyway, the plot thickens...

You don't need to see anyone's medical records to know if someone was advised to get an issue checked out further and they never set the appointment.

Did you not watch the video? Casserly says that the team staff TOLD WILLIAMS TO GET A SECOND OPINION. Literally. This isn't about fighting to get the second opinion, it's about following the team's own suggestion to get a frickin second opinion lol

Casserly also said it was all about money over the summer.  His opinion means nothing.  Was he there when the team told Trent that?  In what capacity?

Czaban just said Keim told him he heard back in August that the team set up "several" appointments that Trent blew off.  So Keim basically backs up Casserly.

That sounds believable.

This whole idea that Trent was supposed to follow up and do it on his own time, didn't sound realistic.  Most of the time, the team coordinates it.

Actually no.  You have been going on and on about how Trent should've 'simply' sought a second opinion.  And I've laid out, why and how it isn't as simple as an average person requesting a second opinion.  I've also included examples to show you how acrimonious it can be for a player to exercise the rights the CBA affords them.  But somehow, you hold an NFL guy to a higher standard than most other 25 year olds...because he was 'supposed to know'.

Does your employer have a vested interest in your body the way an NFL team does?  Final authority on your medical decisions?

It's.  Not.  Comparable.

I will give you an A for effort - but sadly a D for content. First, if I have been going on and on, then you have to. So not a real smart comment - but then again trying to make it personal is never a smart way to go - it tends to back fire on you.

Next, no one is holding Trent to a higher standard - being a little melodramatic don't you think - he is an adult and again despite your insistence on ignoring this glaring fact - he is not alone, He has an entire team including his family friends, agents, lawyers etc. He literally has a team behind him besides the Redskins. They are the ones who are supposed to know. And if they didn't then his anger may be misplaced - it should be at the people around him.

None of this has anything to do with your about face when it surfaced that there may be facts that contradict your narrative. You have been - to use a phase that seems all the rage - going on and on (sorry could not help myself) about all the reasons why Trent didn't get a 2nd opinion right away as if it were written fact. And then as soon as something comes out that contradicts your position you suddenly want to see the facts before passing judgement.

But fair enough - no matter how you got there, waiting for the facts to come out is the right place, although maybe a smidge late 🙂

What? The point of contention is if he was told to see an external professional or not. If Trent says the team said it was nothing, but the team says they asked him to see a professional then it's a he said, they said. The report would ad some validity, but no be conclusive.

You asked how Casserly would have seen Trent's medical records...I pointed out that nothing he said would require him to have seen them.

the biggest issue between may be Trent has overblown the thing in his own mind, since he was scared for his life.  If he did actually blow off further appointments, well why shouldn't it still be on the team.  They wouldn't let him blow of a consultation about a knee injury would they?

I never said anything denying the team may have provided him a second opinion.

What I was railing against, was the idea that a guy that's used to having the team handle all of his medical needs, should have known, through osmosis to go seek a second opinion, when it's pretty much a taboo thing in the NFL to go against a team's in house doctors.

Fact is that if he needed to see a specialist for an essential body part he needed to do his job, I doubt the team would be satisfied with him blowing that off.

Normally a physician takes notes during an evaluation, which would likely include things such as "examined unusual cyst" and "advised patient to seek opinion of specialist."  Then the notes go into a file that's maintained for the patient, so the at the next visit the Dr. can review the prior notes and follow up on any open issues.  The notes are taken contemporaneously with the examination/consultation, so a note to that effect would be pretty conclusive as to what occurred.  Now, if there is no note, that strongly suggests that the advice was not given.  However, if the team is claiming that the advice was provided by a trainer or during some other type of medical examination occurring outside of an office setting, there may not be a traditional record maintained by the physician.  That's where the "he said, she said" problem would come in.

Would love to see the notes, but then again the team maybe not be able to just hand them off to a Washington Post reporter without violating privacy laws.

I understand the opinions that they should have just traded him and been done with it, but if it turns out to be a fact that they told him to see a specialist and even made him appointments that he didn't show for, trading him wouldn't have solved the allegations he's made. He would still be airing them, just on another team which might have limited what the skins could do to protect themselves, even if just in public perception.

All I can guess is that they didn’t deem it to be impacting his play.

Maybe he was in denial for a while.

Either way, he’s a grown ass man, so if he blew off consults about it, he certainly can’t turn around and **** about the medical staff misdiagnosing the bump

I’m on the edge of my seat wondering how the hell @BatteredFanSyndrome is going to spin Casserly and keim’s reports. Surely it will be something along the lines of, “well sure they suggested further examination and he blew them off, but how can we expect grown men to schedule their own appointments? Bruce is a big fat meanie.”

To be fair, he's been rather neutral on this from what I could tell, and that was before the Casserly/Keim stuff.

This becoming a thread of Trent Truthers is fabulous.

It's ranging from "It's known that you're not supposed to get a second-opinion on your own health" to "Ok, maybe they did tell him, but shouldn't they force him to get a second-opinion when he doesn't? It's still their fault." 😂

Ehhhh neutral is a strong word for BFS. He’s mostly taken the side of Trent from my vantage point but maybe you’re right. Just giving a hard time, I am in total agreement we should have cut our losses and traded him, moronic. But fail to see this in any other light other than Trent realized his money was all gone and pulled this stunt to strong arm the team. Have said so pretty much from day one.

It’s cute how much you sweat me.  A bazillion pages with a million people hating on your beloved boy on this very forum, but you only make time for me.  I’m flattered, but I’m both married and straight.

Bruce could have offered to pay for a 2nd, 3rd and 4th opinion and the procedure out of his own pocket and he’s still a last name beneficiary, outdated, wish he could be a has been but never was, disappointment to his father and every Redskins fan with an actual brain.

That said, I’m not of the belief it’s even the team docs responsibility to diagnose cancer.  I am of the belief players trust them entirely too much and like most dudes, act like nothing is wrong until something is very wrong.

Its hilarious though you love Keim the 1% of the time he says what you want him to say.

What's wild to me (although it shouldn't be) is that there's been an almost 180 degree turn in the narrative among fans here and on twitter. Or rather, it's gone from "Bruce Allen and the Redskins disgust me, this should get him thrown out the door, how can anyone defend this garbage franchise?" nonstop on my twitter feed, to...

giphy.gif

Nobody is saying **** anymore lol...the few tweets I run across about how disgusting and dysfunctional Bruce, Dan, and the Redskins are were posted 22 hrs ago. I assume word is starting to get around that there are legit reasons to--at the very least--not jump to any conclusions yet about what Trent said or about how "disgusting" this proves Bruce really is.

And you KNOW the pendulum is gonna swing back the other way in a few more days lol...

That's why I think it's best to just ride things out and wait and see what develops.

Who exactly is connecting the dots between the medical staff misdiagnosing cancer and Bruce being disgusting?  Bruce is not a doctor, thank god.

Bruce was disgusting and a laughing stock well before he mishandled this situation.  There is absolutely nothing that could come out good or bad that will ever change the tune on who he is.

Actually no, it’s a very balanced crowd in here. And don’t act like you haven’t done the very same thing to me (calling me out unprompted).

Not defending Bruce, he once again failed to maximize the long term vision of the team. But ya, when you spend day in day out acting like there’s gotta be something more to this thing, and CONVINCED no way a good dude like Trent has much culpability here, you can expect I’m going to chime in when information like from Casserly comes out. Just like every situation, you are predisposed to take the absolute worst angle toward the team you supposedly root for. That’s just facts.
