let's give our due and admit the defense needs to be reworked this offseason.

however, that does not alibi the lack of productivity of this offense the past 2 years.

the defense finished well last season, and yet the offense was still struggling right up to those last 2 games.

Spurrier's expected assault on NFL defenses is as dead in the water as the Spanish Armada!

We were getting better results under Norvie Pooh

And he was only making $1.5 million a year, not $5 million.

$5 million to get up in front of the media and admit we got our butts kicked for the 9th time in 14 weeks?

Man, we are the prize suckers aren't we?

now, why?

There's no logical explanation. That's the problem.

You starting to get it now?

2nd Redskins drive of the game. 3rd and 2. Spurrier called a pass and it fell incomplete. I knew the game was lost right at that moment.

Well, you could go with bulldog and say it was ego.

first, on that play you mention, the same thing came up a drive later and we ran and lost yards, so i find it hard to blame spurrier.

okay, lets look at some scoring drives:

1-10-NYG27 (14:26) T.Canidate up the middle to NYG 26 for 1 yard (D.Jones, C.Griffin).

2-9-NYG26 (13:50) T.Canidate up the middle to NYG 20 for 6 yards (B.Short).

3-3-NYG20 (13:18) T.Canidate up the middle to NYG 16 for 4 yards (J.Harris).

1-10-NYG16 (12:47) T.Hasselbeck pass incomplete to P.Johnson.

PENALTY on NYG-F.Walker, Defensive Pass Interference, 15 yards, enforced at NYG 16 - No Play.

1-1-NYG1 (12:32) R.Cartwright left guard to NYG 1 for no gain (K.Hamilton, C.Griffin).

2-1-NYG1 (11:58) R.Cartwright left end to NYG 1 for no gain (B.Short).

3-1-NYG1 (11:21) T.Hasselbeck sacked at NYG 10 for -9 yards (M.Strahan). WAS #48 - K.Ware, injured on the play.

4-10-NYG10 (10:58) J.Hall 28 yard field goal is GOOD, Center-E.Albright, Holder-B.Barker.

WAS 3 NYG 0, Plays: 7 Yards: 17 Possession: 3:34.

I can understand a lack of faith in the rock after this. Also, note that we ran on third down. It worked.

1-10-NYG34 (2:01) T.Hasselbeck pass to B.Johnson to NYG 15 for 19 yards (J.Harris).

1-10-NYG15 (1:29) L.Coles right end pushed ob at NYG 10 for 5 yards (O.Stoutmire). End around.

2-5-NYG10 (1:02) L.Betts up the middle to NYG 7 for 3 yards (D.Jones, M.Strahan).

3-2-NYG7 (:20) T.Canidate right end to NYG 4 for 3 yards (D.Jones).

Second Quarter

Washington Redskins continued...

1-4-NYG4 (15:00) T.Hasselbeck sacked at NYG 11 for -7 yards (M.Strahan).

2-11-NYG11 (14:37) T.Canidate left guard to NYG 5 for 6 yards (O.Stoutmire, D.Jones).

PENALTY on NYG-K.Washington, Defensive Offside, 5 yards, enforced at NYG 11 - No Play.

2-6-NYG6 (14:14) T.Hasselbeck pass to D.McCants for 6 yards, TOUCHDOWN.

J.Hall extra point is GOOD, Center-E.Albright, Holder-B.Barker.

WAS 10 NYG 7, Plays: 6 Yards: 34 Possession: 3:12.

again a third and short run play, also worked. But notice that the passing game is already clicking, from the first pass.

1-10-WAS20 (15:00) T.Canidate left end pushed ob at WAS 37 for 17 yards (O.Stoutmire).

1-10-WAS37 (14:44) T.Canidate right tackle to WAS 40 for 3 yards (J.Harris, B.Short).

2-7-WAS40 (14:03) (Shotgun) C.Morton up the middle to WAS 40 for no gain (M.Barrow).

3-7-WAS40 (13:24) (Shotgun) T.Hasselbeck pass to D.McCants pushed ob at NYG 38 for 22 yards (O.Stoutmire).

1-10-NYG38 (12:57) C.Morton left tackle to NYG 36 for 2 yards (K.Hamilton, B.Short).

2-8-NYG36 (12:21) T.Hasselbeck pass to L.Coles to NYG 12 for 24 yards (J.Harris).

1-10-NYG12 (11:27) C.Morton right end to NYG 8 for 4 yards (D.Jones, O.Stoutmire).

2-6-NYG8 (10:54) C.Morton up the middle to NYG 7 for 1 yard (B.Short).

3-5-NYG7 (10:13) T.Hasselbeck pass to R.Gardner for 7 yards, TOUCHDOWN.

J.Hall extra point is GOOD, Center-E.Albright, Holder-B.Barker.

WAS 17 NYG 7, Plays: 9 Yards: 80 Possession: 4:56.

when the running game works, spurrier sticks with it. This was a working run game, but even on this drive, it was a crucial third down pass that got us three more runs.

and then we had the lead.

3rd and 2 in sleet conditions. 10 outta 10 times you run the ball. And 9 times you get it.
