This is the Republican agenda laid bare and in plain writing. Anyone expecting them to play fair in elections is a fool. They fear the growth of “population centers” and the increasing power of the vote for minorities. Rather than working to earn our votes, they want to take away our ability to do it.

Abhorrent party, backed and voted into power by equally abhorrent people.

This might have already been brought up before but is there any good reason that people aren't just automatically registered to vote on their 18th birthday?  I am sure details of the process might have to be worked out, but why do we even have to have a registration process in the first place?  If you are a citizen, your name should automatically appear on the voting rolls, and the registration process could be reserved for when you move and have to update your information.

There's plenty of bad reasons why.... can't think of many good one's though. ;)

The States run the elections, which also means partisan officials run the elections. Partisans want their side to vote and want to discourage the other side from voting, which is why they created voter registration to begin with. (debatable, but debatable like Voter ID laws are for voter security rather then to discourage votes)

You'd have amend the constitution and create some type of bipartisan, non-partisan, or outside body to be in charge of elections. (and the States/current reps would have to give up this power)

Need some creative solutions like the DMV Voting Act in 1993 or maybe a national voting holiday.
