The Brewers new uniforms are nice, love seeing that throwback hat.  But I dunno about the Padres, it's **** brown and piss yellow.  I see those colors in my toilet bowl after eating wings for lunch.

You should drink more water if that's the case.

So MLB.com announced bounce-back candidates for each team. For the Nationals:

Nationals -- Victor Robles, CF
Robles did not take baseball by storm the way that previous high-profile Nationals rookies did, but he also battled injuries. The talent is still all there.

How is a 4.1 bWar rookie a "bounce back" candidate?

The better pick would have been Eaton. 1.6 WAR, but a .848 OPS in the 2nd half.

kinda wrong to compare Robles to historical rookies in Bryce & even more so with Soto. There was absolutely nothing about his season that diminished his ceiling as a player, other than being a magnet for baseballs

Harper and Soto's rookie seasons were remarkable because they were so young.  And while Robles was 22, Harper was 5.2 and Soto was 3.0 in bWAR in their rookie seasons.  Soto was only 4.7 this year compared to Robles' 4.1.  And Harper was a whopping 4.2 this year.

I think Robles is getting less attention because defense makes up a bigger part of his WAR (1.8 oWAR vs 2.6 dWAR).  Both Soto and Harper had negative dWAR, meaning their overall WAR was based on the more visible offensive output.  That and whoever characterized Robles' season as something to bounce back from is a total moron.

With the sheer amount of extremely talented and record breaking players we have in the league today that are doing things at 20-21 that are unheard of, let’s not forget that not everybody puts it all together so early.  A lot of guys take time.  Robles still seemed a tad bit raw this season at the plate.  Defensively he even made huge strides just this season.  The best is yet to come.

If Robles could ever get his OBP up around .400 like Soto, he would be one of the very best players in baseball. Doesn't even have to be a slugger like that. Consistent contact and frequent walks would be huge for him. Imagine him on the basepaths 40% of the time with that speed of his AND gold glove defense.

I think a lot of us imagined him as an Andrew McCutchen type, and while he will probably never be as prolific offensively, he could be nearly as well-rounded.
