After 25 pitches and looking tired in the first I was worried.

I'm also an idiot because nobody should question Max.

I was gonna give him a pass because his wife had a baby two days ago. He pulled it together pretty quick though.

Sooooo, whats wrong with him (out of curiosity). Always said his swing seemed like it needed a NASA-like preflight check for everything to go right, but when it did go right, it was off to Saturn.

Why does he suck so bad now. It's really strange

Nothing is wrong. He's just in a big slump. Remember Werth his 1st year in DC? No way Harper stays cold.

One thing I've heard guys on MLB network say is that Philly doesn't have clear leadership right now. Nobody has stepped up the way we had Werth or Max did..... or seemingly add a guy like Parra who takes a leader role off the street to work with young guys./

Also on the Phillies. Watched a bunch of the game last night. Arrieta hits one guy. Then hits Fraizer who we can all agree is a jerk. But Fraizer gets tossed for jawing off. Both dugouts are warned. Then Arrieta his a 3rd guy with the same pitch he hit Fraizer with. Doesn't get toss. Mets manager comes out and gets tossed eventually.

After the game Arrieta says he'll put a dent in Fraizers head. Also they say he has bone spurs in the elbow. He'll probably end up with surgery and doesn't care if he gets suspended. Either way, the Umps lost control of that game.

Disagree. Harper will probably be a .250 hitter who walks and Ks a lot for the rest of his career. MLB has figured him out and he doesn’t seem to be able to make an adjustment. Pitch him up and away and then breaking balls inside. If he’s patient you might walk him, which isn’t as big a deal now as it was before launch angle was a thing. But chances are you’ll strike him out. Occasionally he’ll get ahold of a ball and hit his HR... he’ll still probably get roughly 30/yr.

He might have a long hot streak and end up hitting .280-90 one year, but he’s never going to be the 2015 mvp level Harper we saw. If we can sign Rendon because we let Harper walk, it will end up being the best thing that’s ever happened to the Nats.

Bryce has always had so many moving parts to his swing, it was always going to be a struggle for him to hit for a high average. His MVP year might be a statistical anamoly in regards to his average

he is incredibly streaky, no middle ground whatsoever. When he's going good, there are only 2 or 3 better, but those stretches are few and far between, usually right at the start of the year. When its going bad for him, he looks like a minor leaguer trying to hit Pedro Martinez in his prime

Corbin and Rendon might be right in the neighborhood as Harper's contract.

I was thinking about this last night. August 12th, Harper had a .326/.419/.614 slash line. That's the night he slipped on the wet base and bruised his knee. He has not been the same since.
