Susan Collins: routinely clutching and dropping her handbag with a dexterity and flexibility admirable for any senior citizen. Master's level display of using a fashion accessory to ward off attack while minimizing damage to the attacker.

Reminds me of working with a cane in Han Bong-soo's hapkido training.

Isn't what Rudy is saying something the Dems and Obama suggested way back whenever?

Yeah, pretty much. They're now pivoting to suggesting the exact stuff (no big, long physical wall but more advanced security and technology, etc) that the Dems (and sane Republicans) have been talking about for years, and trying to play it off as if 1) It's actually their idea and 2) That's what they've been saying the whole time.

His base will absolutely buy it.

Dem's should cheer Rudy publicly for bringing back the OBAMA/DEM security measure and suggest the GOP gets on board with it. Specifically write up something that is this about cameras and technology, and in no ways goes to a physical waste of money.

then sit back and watch.

Unfortunately the Dems troll game is depressingly weak.

How long can president trump keep the government closed for if he decides he doesn’t care? Until congress has an over-ride majority?

I hope he does hold out until they over-ride his veto. It would be a serious slap in the face. Hopefully they do it first thing in the new year, if not tomorrow. Love seeing Ryan go down slapping pork on a deal to try to buy votes for wasteful spending.

I had a second HR tbought... Fed employees get paid for holidays only if they are in a paid status the day before or after the holiday. So if still out on Monday, anyone want to get on whether Congress gives up their Christmas to iron out a bill to keep fed workers from losing the Christmas paid holiday? Here's hoping it is all resolved before it comes to these sad Christmas tidings.

So to go back to the meeting with Chuck and Nancy.

Pelosi: "You don't have the votes for the wall, we have the votes for the CR/budget."

This was the end game Donald, you just vetoed a bill where Paul, Mitch and Chuck had input. Have fun with Nancy at the table and a House elected in the face of caravan scare mongering.

@gbear,
Easy for me to say since I was on the sideline.... Feds won't be impacted until they miss a paycheck. It won't happen until the 11th.

Unlike 1996, many Feds, especially young ones can't deal with any missed paychecks.... so this will likely end before January 11.

Oh, and he also is shutting down Homeland Security....
