  1. 1. Who wins this meaningless game?

Recommended Posts

When: December 16th  1:00 p.m.  noon central

Where:  TIAA Bank Field Jacksonville

This Sunday the Redskins, or whats left of them, travel down to Florida to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars, in a game that can only be called disappointing for both teams. Both teams are going through a season they'd just assume forget.

The Jaguars are disappointing this year, especially with the break-out season they had last year, when they had a strong defense, good running game, and a QB who was showing signs of being an NFL QB. This year they have been anything but good.

The Jags come off a loss to the Tennessee Titans 30-9, but oddly enough the week prior they took on and shut down an Andrew Luck-led Colts team 6-0.

Offensively, the Jaguars' offense has been sputtering to say the least, and against the Titans they started out with a safety,  but that was their only score until the 3rd qtr where they managed to score a TD, but that was the extent of their offensive firepower, as the Titans put up 30 points on the Jags defense.

This past Sunday, the Redskins fell to the Giants 40-16, in a game that was over before the 42 people in the stands got comfortable in their seats.

Saquan Barkley ran roughshod through the porous and maligned Redskins defense, even breaking off a 76 yd TD run to totally deflate and demoralize the Redskin defense. Eli Manning was being Eli Manning, but played well enough to not put his team in bad positions and stayed away from the interception-crazy bug that he seems to catch now and then.

Offensively, the Redskins just couldn't do anything with Mark Sanchez. Immobile, inaccurate, and unable to compose himself as an NFL QB who was rushed often and had happy feet the entire time he was on the field. The offense was sluggish [ that's being generous ] and slow, and this carried over to the defense, who have been under-performing now for over a month.

A little glimmer of life flashed when Sanchez was benched for Josh Johnson, who came in mid-3rd qtr and did manage to get 2 TDs and 2 - 2pt. conversions, but it was far too little, far too late, as the Giants had put up 40 points on the bewildered Redskin defense in the first half.

The team's performance is somewhat understandable, with an injury list the size of a phone book, literally players are being plucked out of burger joints and given a uniform, and it shows on-field. Many feel Gruden is spending his last season here with the Redskins, and many agree the problems are not limited to Gruden himself, but when a coach puts a predictable product on the field,  he has to know he's already lost the battle.

So, the Redskins and Jaguars; on paper, one could say this is about as close to an even match-up as one could get in the NFL, both have sluggish offenses as well as defenses which have played better earlier in the season. Josh Johnson will be making his first start with the Redskins against a Jaguars defense looking to put pressure on him early and often, and with a rag tag o-line, Johnson will be running for his life almost right out the gate [ maybe the stadium ].

The question is, will the Redskin defense show up? Lately they've been more content on trying to strip the ball away from a ball carrier than making a tackle, so will this continue, or will they try tackling and play fundamental football. No one knows for sure, but given the record of these 2 teams, the stands could be fairly empty, and it could be one of the "Bay of Pigs " football games, just in 2 different cities.

Look for a sloppy game. Neither team will be able to do much, it could come down to special teams play for field position and a few FGs. But one never knows, maybe Johnson could be a glimmer of hope to close out this embarrassing Redskin season.

When the dust settles and the cat fur flies,

the Redskin o-line is abused, in a mildly entertaining game; that is, if you like misery.

final Score:

Redskins 13

Jaguars 19

First correct score prediction wins a new Redskins cap or beanie and a few other goodies.

Good luck, and as always,  G  O    S  K  I  N  S !!!

We know the Skins will be disinterested.

The question is whether the Jags will be. I am guessing they give good effort at home.

The Jags are limited offensively.

24-6 Jags

After the game Jay blames injuries, looks confused and says he has to check out the film.

In a pull from the past, he also says there are a number of penalties they will be sending up to the league to revue.

Got to be Redskins 17 Jags 13.

We will win here and next week to move to 8-7 and due to other results will control the 6th seed in the playoffs entering the final weekend of the season whereupon we will once again be guilty of a colossal egg laying on the way to losing 51-3.  On Black Monday Bruce Vader will then announce that we would have won the Superbowl if it hadn't been for those pesky kids, I mean injuries,  and to show his commitment to the cause he has signed Jay and all of his assistants to 5 year extensions.

Watch it end up being 33-35 or something... seems like a lot of times that’s what happens....  I mean, not never for the redskins, but for other teams sometime

I can certainly see us making the Jags O look like the 2018 Rams or Chiefs.. In the realm of possibility for sure. 😥

Jags have turned from being a good team earlier this season to a really bad team. That is right up our ally, another bad team to beat and feel good about.  Then there will be those few delusional brethren who will start adding up the math of a playoff opportunity scenario.  Then we will hear Larry Michael lead the charge of delusion by explaining how we bounced back to beat a "dangerous" Jags team who went deep in the playoffs last year.

Yeah we will win....

Skins  20

Jags  13
