Women of AllNight: Elisabeth Hasselbeck

For years, ABC's daytime talk show The View has been everything that goes against the principles of AllNight. It has been, with few exceptions, a program done by women, for women and about things that interest women. At no point in our history, has there been an on-air acknowledgement of The View's television existence ... let alone any remote consideration for one of the show's co-hosts finding their way into The Collection. Enter America's newest sweetheart and we're reminded that sometimes it's true to "never say never." Elisabeth Hasselbeck went from being voted out of the tribe on Survivor to being voted onto the set of The View in just a few years. This Miss Elisabeth just has the look to accompany the personality to make us pay attention ... even though we know she'll be much more covered up than the bare midriff days in the Australian Outback. We're honestly not sure who's luckier to have her: Her quarterback husband or The View's producers? Much like ten years ago, when we actually saw Tommie Frazier run the shotgun spread offense at Nebraska, we can't believe what we're watching ... but we know that it's working. Elisabeth Hasselbeck, formerly Elisabeth Filarski, is best known to audiences as a participant on the wildly popular second edition of the Survivor game show, Survivor: the Australian Outback. While competing in Australia, Ms. Hasselbeck used her competitive personality and survival skills to outwit and outlast her way to the final four.

A 1999 graduate from Boston College, Ms. Hasselbeck is married to NFL quarterback Tim Hasselbeck. While at Boston College, she captained her championship D-1 softball team, as her studies centered on her studio art major.

Ms. Hasselbeck has recently been putting her flair for fashion to good use as a host of the Style Network's The Look for Less, which helps viewers find designer looks at bargain prices. She has also hosted programs on MTV, and done commercial work for companies including Reebok, Johnson & Johnson and Proctor & Gamble.

Prior to her work on television, Ms. Hasselbeck designed shoes for PUMA, working on their street lifestyle design, while living in Boston. She does not stray far from the world of industrial design and fills her time painting, designing note cards and personalized planners, running, as well as relaxing with her husband, family and friends.

Ms. Hasselbeck grew up in Providence, Rhode Island. She dedicated the winter of 1997 in Belize to teaching children in the rain-forest, and spent three weeks in Italy in 2000 developing her designs to completion.

She describes herself as intuitive, mildly impulsive, faithful and devoted. Ms. Hasselbeck enjoys the game of football (particularly when her husband is on the field), partaking in outdoor sports and listening to her brother Ken's music.

Ms. Hasselbeck has a strong passion for working with Breast Cancer Prevention, Research and Support. She also dedicates her time to working with the youth of today in order to develop their self-esteem.

Todd Wright talks about what sports fans talk about Sunday-Thursday nights from 10 p.m.-3 a.m. PT (1-6 ET) on ESPNRadio.

Yeah, anti-abortion is a pretty easy position to take. I don't think there's a whole lot of people that think abortion in itself is a good thing.

Anti-choice however, might be more contentious...

Interesting a woman opposed to abortion...hmmm never heard of that before....as long as she isn't one of those religious freaks that protests outside of abortion clincs thats cool!

So as long as she has a belief, but doesn't do anything to ACT on it, thats cool? I consistently wonder why its 'cool' to protest other issues (such as use of military force, or environmental policy for example), but inappropriate to support other issues? And why would you characterize everyone who protests against abortion as a 'religious freak'? How is that any less offensive than grouping all blacks together as 'those people'?

Really not trying to pick a fight. Just curious as to where you're coming from. 'Here we go' is right.

And, btw....I'm not religious....

I don't support the kind of tactics some of these 'protestors' use Bufford. I totally agree there. There are crazy fanatical people out there on every side of every issue. I just think the term 'religious freaks' is interesting. Since most here seem to be religious, I'm wondering what the defining aspect of 'a freak' is?
