mardi gras skin
''The big joke around here is that the jinx is at work. We put the jinx on the cover, and [managing editor Bill] Colson loses his job."

-- A Sports Illustrated staffer, quoted on Mediaweek.com, connecting Colson's exit as editor to a recent cover story on the magazine's famed jinx.

Someone here pointed out that the cover story of SI was the jinx. I guess this pretty much proves the power of the jinx beyond doubt.
Om
I'm circulating a petition demanding that SI not put Steve Spurrier on a cover until and unless we've won consecutive Super Bowls. At that point, I figure, screw 'em. We'll have ours.
bulldog
How about "Marty in SD: A Man on a Mission" for the next cover of SI?
Guest fuji869
How about Quincy Carter on the Cover with the Caption "Can this man bring back America's Team?" or Donovan McNabb on the cover with the Caption "Fly Eagle Fly"?
bulldog
I am torn between wanting to see the Eagles get blown out of the water by the Rams or whether I want to see them go to New Orleans again and relive their 1980 Super Bowl defeat to the AFC
Om
Hmm, bulldog ... shall I have the Porterhouse, or the Filet Mignon?

The Dom, or the '73 Rothschild Mouton-Cadet?

The blond twins, or the redhead and her auburn-haired friend?
Stricknine
I hate the Rams, so I'd rather see the latter. I also kind of like the idea of, like last year, we beat one of the Super Bowl teams.
bulldog
we beat the Super Bowl champion twice back in 1995 with the Cowboys but unfortunately we went 4-10 against the rest of the NFL. to me beating the champ kind of stuff doesn't take the bitter taste out for starting 0-5 and being the laughingstock of the NFL for the first month and a half of the season.

hopefully we will never be in that position again.

it is one thing to legitimately have no talent and be a 1-15 team, it is quite another to see guys go out there and tank games because they and the coach couldn't reach a middle ground and keep their attention on what was truly important, namely THE SEASON.
