Here's the footage of the body double in Khasoggi's clothes and a fake beard walking out of the consulate after the murder and taking a cab to a public area with an accomplice.  They enter a public bathroom with a plastic bag.  They then exit with the double wearing his original clothes and the plastic bag filled, presumably, with Khasoggi's clothes, which they throw into a dumpster.

It would be a good Mel Brooks movie.

Here we are days after Khashoggi's murder and already not one but TWO Trump cabinet officials have traveled to Saudi Arabia for photo ops with the clown prince who likely green lighted it.

It is morally repugnant that Trump is so quick to participate in the soft pedaling of the murder of a journalist.  It borders on moral depravity.

I get the realities of maintaining an alliance with the kingdom.  Past administrations have looked the other way, made moral compromises, and held their collective noses while maintaining ties to Saudi wealth and oil.  One more sign of how ****ed up the world can be sometimes.

But in the face of a flat-out murder of an American-based journalist, Trump is falling over himself trying to mitigate on behalf of Kushner's pal.  The world is watching, and the damage to the U.S. reputation among free peoples cannot be understated.

Now he's back-pedaling some.  Like MSB, Trump grossly underestimated the backlash. He stepped in the ****, and now we'll watch as he tries to scrape it off his shoes.  But the stink will linger for a long time, because he can't run away from sending political cover to MSB in the form of TWO Cabinet level officials for grip and grins before the blood has dried and the body found.

Scenes when the House of Sa'ud has to throw in the towel and start filling in that moat they dug around Qatar.

Turkey has done an excellent job of playing this to maximal affect, but nothing has really changed.  Unless the US government actually does something (which is extremely unlikely), everybody turning their back on SA is going to go back to them over the next couple of months.  There is too much money to be made.

And as long as western businesses and governments support SA, they are going to remain a major power player in the ME.

Saudi Arabia gambled (though, I'm not sure how much it was a gamble vs. they had sounded out US representatives (e.g. Kushner)) that they could kill a US green card holder that worked as a journalist for a US news paper and it certainly looks like they are going to be right.
