skinsmarydu
He has a tendency to save his energy for a bigger point, good mental game. His hand extension on his serve toss is beautiful, his forehand can be deadly. He's perfect. ?

skinsmarydu
Pickleball is cool! Btw, I'd like to thank everyone for the participation in the thread, I wasn't sure it would draw enough attention to survive! ?

I've seen the call made dozens of times and players have been fined too. It's absolutely part of the rules. Serena has faced cheating and racism in her career, but I don't think this was a legitimate case, and it diminishes her voice when she is wronged. John McEnroe was one of my favorites when I was growing up, and playing the game many years ago. I used the same rackets, Maxply and then McEnroe Maxply. Sometimes wore the headband when my hair was long. ?But his antics on the court at times made me cringe, and I was not a shrinking violet. Pick your battles.

I've been watching tennis a pretty long time. I can't recall many coaching warnings called at all (to be honest, I can't remember one call, but I'll take your word for it). It is a very rare call. To make it in a Grand Slam Final is absurd. Edited September 9, 2018 by skinswillwin06
Corcaigh
I saw Nadal get one at Wimbledon and Djokovic get one at the Australian open but I don't think they were in the final - can't recall I'm curious to know how often it's happened too. Commentators often mention it live when they show the coaches during the game and the signalling is obvious. I think everyone knows that the coaches send signals - many openly admit to it, including Serena's. It's not close to being universally enforced for sure. But if Serena hadn't smashed her racket and then accused the umpire of being a thief, the warning for coaching would have been nothing.

Hersh
This is 100% on Serena. The entire “I have a daughter part” and no one would’ve considered her cheating over what happen. She lost her composure cause she couldn’t stop Osaka and she knew she was going to lose.
zoony
Since when are athletes people we should listen to? Last I checked every `athlete` i went to school with was dumb as a brick. Lets listen to people who think for a living. Lets watch people who play sports for a living

StillUnknown
insane that 3 men have equaled or passed Sampras mark of 14 3 greatest players of all-time all play in the same era, been a privilege to watch over the last decade or so

It's going to be sad when they wind down and retire. I appreciate that these guys were such gracious and worthy champions too. Not insufferable douchebags. Such a contrast from the likes of Marat Safin and Lleyton Hewitt. John McEnroe did a lot of damage to tennis as a player.

I think he did a lot to get his body right and embrace a level of professionalism that he lacked before he grew into being a champion. Federer was kind of like that too, but the lightbulb turned on for him earlier. Nadal was a tremendous competitor very early on. He just didn't have the well-rounded game to win on grass and asphalt too until mid-career. I'm going to miss the five set epic Major Finals we've been treated to with surprising regularity between these three guys.

They should have done more crown-snatching by this point in their careers if they were in the same class. I think it'll be a minute before we get another generation of greats, similar to the gap between Sampras and Federer.

I'll never forget that 6hr+ final Djokovic & Nadal had at the Australian Open a while back. To play for that long and for the quality of tennis to remain that high is unbelievable. The image of them leaning on chairs because it hurt to stand during the trophy presentation has stuck with me. That match had me convinced at the time that Djokovic would end up with the most majors of the three. His game can clearly stand with the other two, but in that particular match, he outlasted the man who known for having the best cardio in the game. Djokovic would probably need a perfect stretch of health for the next 4 years with minimal decline in his game to catch Roger at this point, but he's my favorite of the 3.
