So... what's our chance against Dallas?

Dallas' defense gave us the worse trouble of any team this season, and now we have a backup tackle, a backup QB, and no healthy RB.

On the flip side, we have played better since that game, our blocking has improved, and though Hasselback can't go deep to exploit Dallas' DB's like Ramsey could, he is more mobile, and good at making quick passes to help nullify the blitz. Dallas has had a couple bad games, and confidence is down a little.

So what do you think?

Our chances are both great and horrible.

We missed a lot of opportunities against the Cowboys in the first game. We lost by seven, but they were 20 points better than us that day. Dallas is willing and able to take chances, both defensively and offensively, to jump start things and they will be a little desperate this week for fear of falling out of the playoffs entirely if they don't get it going.

Usually that means for us a lot of horrible things. It means Dallas will do things off film to confuse us, take chances we won't, and they'll beat us. On the other hand, if we actually watch film and see how teams have slowed Dallas of late, using the blitz on occasion and BRINGING guys up to assure they can't have a consistently good running game, we can beat them.

Hasselbeck though will run into a buzz saw at some point where teams game plan him and take things from him. I'd like Ramsey to play this week to see if the down time helped him, but, in all, our chances are not where you'd want them because we have no justification in believing our coaching staff will be smart enough and willing enough to take the chances necessary to win and we know theirs will.

We don't hide our weaknesses either. We just run ball plays on both sides of the ball for the most part. We are perfect for a team with a good coach who'll have his guys prepared. If we see some changes in our style this week, we'll win, because we remain more talented man for man than the Cowboys. We just aren't half the team they are today.

I think our guys are going to have to be pumped up to win. This has to be their superbowl. We have to be ready to slug it out with them. It should be a low-scoring game with mistakes deciding the winner. QC is mistake-prone enough that we can win a game like that.

It's winnable, but it won't be easy.

I don't see the Cowboys deviating from their gameplan earlier in the season, they're going to send everyone but the waterboy and try to rattle Hasselbeck and knock him from the game.

The key is whether Spurrier and the gameplan can find ways do beat the blitz with quick screens and slants. The Dallas D isn't going to stop until they feel it isn't effective anymore.

I hope Coles gets a couple of those slants on the dead run and can slice through that secondary. Also, I'd love to see Jacobs/Johnson running slants and skinny posts as well.... they being faster than Gardner/McCants.

Winey and Dockery better put their "Big Boy" pants on for this one.

If the Skins play mistake free football, I'd say they have a good chance. Since the first matchup this year, the Cowboys have played worse, and the Skins have played better. The Boys may have a better record since then or it may be the same, I'm not sure. I do know that a lot of those Washington losses were very close games. The Cowboys have been blown out their last two games. If the Dallas defense is going to continue this trend of giving up points, your team has a great chance because the Cowboys offense still sucks. :( The Eagles game was the first time this year the Cowboys have lost back-to-back games, and it's put up or shut up time now if Dallas wants to make the Playoffs so the Skins won't catch a team napping. If Snyder is thinking about firing Spurrier, beating the hated Cowboys and acting as a Playoffs spoiler sure would go a long way in helping him. ;)

Considering Dallas' recent struggles, I think we are in a good position to beat them. It's nice that we got a division win against the Giants, but in all honesty they had nothing to play for. If we can beat a division club like dallas who is fighting for their playoff lives, it will be a major step in the right direction for our Skins next season. Some people on here tend to believe that finishing strong is overrated. I tend to agree when the games are against teams who also have nothing to play for like last year vs. Dallas and Houston. This year is a different story though. Dallas clearly has inspiration to come out ready to play this week, and depending on the home field advantage situation, that Philly game in the final week might be important for them as well. These are the types of games that can seriously have a carryover effect for us next year.

Why are you even asking?

'Skins can and will win, expect the defense to be a swarming mass of mean people tackling and punishing 'Pokes as they watch the season slip away. Look for offense to be well managed and three long pass plays to seal this win at home. Then RUN OUT THE CLOCK AGAIN.

I’d be surprised if you see Dallas blitz as much as the last game. The reason it was so effective before was Ramsey’s affection with holding on to the ball. Tim’s quick release and game wit should hold Dallas to a bit more of a conventional scheme defensively. Not saying they won’t blitz – but you won’t see the floodgates open like the last game. I am hopeful that we will see more rushes like we did against the Giants.

Hell yeah we've got a chance. Like mentioned above, Dallas on the road has struggled recently of late and I think Tim is getting comfterable with the plays.

Bottom line is there will come a point when someone has to step up and make a big play with or without the ball. Whoever that someone is, they must answer the call. Get this damn monkey off our back.

Also, if Dallas or Seattle lose out.....Skins win out....... We could have a shot at the Wild Card

What's the mathematical possibility of that happening?

Wouldn't the Hawks, Bucs, and Niners have to lose 2 of their last three, the Saints would have to catch and beat the Cowboys, and the Skins would have to run the table?

Possible. I've looked at the schedule. But not a chance in heck of happening.
