RULES

Draft Start Dates/Roster Lockdown.

- The proposed start date this year is Monday, March 26, 12 PM EST. That will give us exactly 1 month before the 'real' draft commences on April 26-28.

- We shall be 'locking down' all rosters by midnight the day prior, March 25. Any trades our real life teams make after that point are meaningless for our purposes.

Time Duration.

- Our general rule of thumb has been for each GM to have a 12 hour time slot once he's on the clock. And if he fails to get his pick in within that allowed time, he skips his pick and we move down the draft order with him being able to jump back in at any time he returns. With the added penalty of two skips cutting his future time allowance in half.

- For Round 1, the 12 hour rule stays in place.

- For Round 2, this decreases by 2 hours to 10 hours.

- Rounds 3 though 7 will decrease by a further two hours to give you 8 hours on the clock.

- The two skip/ time halved rule will still apply. BUT, if you don't show and end up missing an entire round, you run the likely risk of having your team taken away from you as it's unfair and not much fun on everyone else to be kept waiting. To participate, you need to be FULLY committed and there's a lot of personal sacrifice involved.

General Rules.

- *NEW NEW RULE* No trading future picks.

- Once we commence, the draft order at that moment in actual time will be the draft order we work with.  And as previously mentioned, the roster we work with will be from when the roster lockdown occurs.

- You can freely trade picks, including future picks (caveated as above), so long as you find a willing trade partner. With the added bonus this year for the first time ever compensatory picks are now in play to be traded!  But any ridiculously lopsided trades are subject to the Commissioner/community vetoing. (Mercifully this has yet to be needed.).

- If you happen to end up running two teams (hopefully this won't be the case), in the obvious interest of collusion NO trading with yourself!

- Strictly NO trading of players for picks.  History suggests this causes more angst than politics.

- Transaction discussions can be made through PMs at your own discretion to simulate back door handshakes or in thread. Just be sure that once such deals are made I am made aware.  These discussions can begin as soon as teams are assigned but WILL NOT PROCESS UNTIL ROSTER LOCKDOWN OCCURS, since up to that point your real life team may lose the picks you planned to trade.

- When you decide and post your picks, you are free to elaborate as much or as little about your decisions as you would like. People will lambast you as they see fit regardless.  GHH has typically used this as a platform to convince the other owners of why he drafted a guy expected to be a 6th rounder in the 2nd.  Feel free to do the same.

- If, for whatever reason, you feel you'll have a long delay when it's your pick because you won't be around, but you know you're within a couple of picks of being on the clock, then please, if you have a shortlist in preferential order of players you want, feel free to send it via PM to myself or someone you trust to make the pick in your absence if I am not around.  Helps keep things moving.

- I will try to PM you to let when you're 'On the Clock.' If I am not available, it would be appreciated as always for anyone available or the person who just picked to notify the next GM up.

- No talking in this thread about players that haven't been drafted.

- No badgering GMs currently on the clock to make their pick. They have a time limit for a reason. As frustrated in waiting as you may be, repeated violations of this will result in sanctions against your own time duration. NO exceptions. This has been a repeated issue that has bothered a few participants in recent years and will no longer be tolerated. We're here to have fun guys. Respect the rules and each other from when you commit and we'll achieve that aim once more.

- All that said, feel free as always to rib each other to the fullest and mock or applaud draft picks when made at your leisure. Just remember to keep within the rules of the board and be reasonably respectful to one another.  DO NOT GET BANNED.  Yes this has happened in the past.  Just don't.

Okie dokie. So we're back up and running then? Sweet! Happy to hand back Commish duties. As much as I loved running this thing last year it honestly drains the heck out of you by the end of the process. Running your own teams draft is time-consuming and hard work enough without overseeing the rest of our thing. So the utmost respect in advance for what @Epochalypse has taken back. Even if he still can't draft for ****!

Only two pieces of business remain from me at this juncture .....

To close the longest running issue in the history of the ES Draft .....

Boy can the Cowboys draft!

Speaking of, to answer one of the OP's questions, you can find me locked away in our draft bunker at The Star in Frisco if you require anything further.

7.248 Chase Roullier - 13 Gs, 7 starts

Also grabbed Cowboys 1st and 2nd rounder for 2018 and 1st rounder for 2019.  Browns did trade a 2018 6th rounder too.

Quote

Boy can the Cowboys draft!

Cowboys 2017 draft...

1.1 Myles Garrett - 31 tackles, 7 sacks. 1 FF; so good he took the Browns from a 1 win team to a 0 win team

2.57 Fabian Moreau - 14 tackles, 1 PD

4.110 Blair Brown - 15 tackles 0.5 sacks

4.115 Chad Hansen - 9 rec 94 yds

4.140 TJ Logan - Cardinals IR, didn't play

7.246 Jeremy Cutrer - didn't make team

Traded away 2018 1st, 2nd, 4th, 2 x 5ths and 6th round picks and 2019 1st rounder....

To get the above...

You sure about your statement?

Stocking up?  If they carried over you would have 2 picks this draft, a 3rd and a 7th...

And a stacked, young roster with cap room.

But don't add the context of why the Garrett move was made. It was gone over too many times last years thread anyways.

That's one of the main problems of looking back at anyone's draft. Mock or real. The context of the time and why decisions were taken.

Put the rules up BTW man. People forget quickly from year-to-year.

Quick pseudo poll:

Knowing what you know now, Leonard Williams or James Winston?

Williams. I'd have taken him 1st in 2015 never mind now. Best player by far that draft. Mad how he fell to 6. (Really can't understate teams need and over-reaching for QB's that Winston and Marriota went 1/2.).

I was SO disappointed when we picked Scherff at 5 after being SO excited that Williams had fallen into our lap I can't begin to tell you. And I was massively high on Scherff as the top interior linemen prospect that year. (Everything pointed to him being flipped inside the pro's with his size and skillset.).

Hail.

*Edit* I got why you took Winston for Tampa man on need BTW in our draft. I just wouldn't have passed over Williams talent personally.

Wildbunny sounds like he is a definite no-go so we know at least one team is available

There's no way I can handle BHRBN and Mock draft at the same time. So I've decided to prioritize BHRBN, which also was a no brainer really.

Wishing good luck to the one that will replace me at the helm of the Jaguars.

I had spoken to Gibbs Hog Heaven about reserving the ravens for this season.  I was out of the game last year due to my schedule and had them the previous 2 yrs.  Would like to have them again this season, although I see the jags are the only remaining team.

If I have to take the Jags, that's not a problem, but I'd prefer the Ravens.

I would talk to @clskinsfan as he just traded over to the Ravens.  He might be willing to switch again.  I think he just wanted to ensure he had at least 7 picks if I recall the conversation.

I'm in but similar to last year, i will send picks to the Commissioner with a few choices because i can rarely check this website between 7am-3pm

No problem that works.

To all, right now I only have 2 names thrown in for the Redskins, which means you can:

a. Throw your name in as well so long as you're eligible (only 3 of us that aren't)

b. When the Redskins are assigned, if they had another team, that team will open up for this year.  then it will be up to y'all to decide how that will work next year if we do this again.

Shoot. The problems of switching back Commissioners and not conferring beforehand. As much my fault as anyone's.

Yeah, The Ravens should never have been in play to be flipped. Sorry. They've been @SkinsFanMania team the first two years, and he was sadly indisposed last year so had to drop out. On the proviso, he got them back this year.

So strictly speaking, they should be his to start with in the interests of fair integrity.

Sorry. I should have spoke to Epoch before this new thread went up. Blame me.

You can remove me from the list this year.  Anything run by an Englishman is doomed to fail.

(but seriously I don't have the time to be all in)

OI! Scouse not English you! Those heathens just happen to be attached to the Independent Peoples Republic!

And I was only filling in. The big boss has it back this year.

Gonna' miss yer man. Put yourself down for a one-year 'loan' deal and have the Bears back next year if our returning Commish will roll with that.

Then let’s do the right thing.  Let’s give @clskinsfan the falcons back.  Then give @SkinsFanMania the ravens and I will take the jags.  The only thing I ask is that if other teams open up I get a chance a them. Not real excited about the jags but the other guys deserve the teams they had.

@Epochalypse please make those changes if it’s ok with you and everyone involved.  Even if I don’t get a shot at the other teams.  ??

Sounds a perfect solution.

Sorry bud. As much my fault as anyone's. I had it noted but was caught completely on the hop when this thread went up (I wasn't 100% sure to that point that Epoch was free to take over the reigns again), and as such I just naturally turned to thinking about my own draft free of the extra obligation. Completely forgetting to bounce over the agreement SFM and I had made.

FWIW Epoch, I for one are 100% down with goskins getting the first choice to flip to any available teams.

Hail.
