Brunell Won't Return to Jags -- from FFMastermind.com

The Florida Times-Union reports Jags QB Mark Brunell clarified his status Wednesday: He definitely will not be a Jaguar next season. "Without a doubt, most definitely, I won't be back," Brunell said after meeting Wednesday morning with HC Jack Del Rio to clear the air about comments made by Del Rio earlier this week. Del Rio announced Monday that Brunell would remain the No.3 quarterback behind QB Byron Leftwich and QB David Garrard for the rest of the season. Del Rio added on his radio show Tuesday that "in all likelihood, [brunell] will resume his career on another roster." Brunell, who has started 117 games in his nine-year Jaguars career, expects to be released before collecting a $2 million roster bonus March 1st. He said he sought out Del Rio because Del Rio had made announcements on his future without speaking to him first.

I think if Hasselbeck plays average this weekend, he's earned the right to at least fight for the #2 job in camp. We've all read and heard his stance on being a backup. He thinks he needs time learning like his brother from the #2 spot. Unless a NYC team offers him a job so he can be near his lady, he should be here like our own Jason Garrett.

The fact that we'd even mention signing somebody like Mark Brunell makes me shake my head. A good QB? Sure he is, I'm not denying that. And by no means am I trying to say that the backup QB spot in not an important position. I know its only been two games, but Tim seems to be showing that he might prove to be a capable backup. We have serious needs on our d line. The first dollar spent this offseason better be in that area.

I think we have a solid back up in Tim. For some reason I see alot of potential in this kid. Give him about 2 years in one system, and it'll be him you're reading about and not Matt. We definitely need to sign him for next year.

he's already signed for 2yrs

Yes he is, and much to the horror of both my dad and older brother, who are big Colts fans, the Colts have yet to make a deal to keep him, and also the Colts are so cap-straped that they might be hard pressed even to franchise him, because to do that they have to pay him a one year salary at the average of the top 5 QBs in the NFL, and even that might be too much for them to pay, since they play in the smallest stadium in the NFL and thus, are pressed for cash to begin with.

Having said that, I doubt the Redskins would be able to afford him as well. My deepest darkest fear is that Manning is going to end up, dare I say this, in Dallas as a Cowboy  :40oz:

The best case, for me anyways, would be him going to a team other than the Cowboys, but also leaving the Colts, so as to silence both Dad and my pinhead older brother, as they are unbareable.

On a side note, I remember back in 1998, when Manning was drafted No. 2 overall by the Colts, after the Chargers rook Ryan Leaf No. 1 overall. My dad was SOOOOOO sure the Colts took the wrong QB back then

But try to get him to admit that now? Yeah, right!!!!
