Troy Fakeman
I would like to discuss the options the Skins are currently facing with their Running Backs. Do we keep Trung? Do we keep Trung and Ladell? Do we get rid of Trung and keep Ladell? Or do we just say f* it, and go straight for someone like....Rudi Johnson? Hog Fever
The Bengals aren't going to let Rudi go anywhere. Dillion will be available but I can't see him as a good fit here. I think Fred Taylor is going to be available. He is outstanding when healthy. If we decided to go the free agent route to address the RB situation that might be the way we go. My guess is that for better or worse we will end up standing pat at RB for next year. Even though I see a clear need for a "go to" guy I'm not sure how good our options are unless we decide to draft someone.
Chrisbob74
I think Trung has to go, ok, he had 100 + yds this past week but he runs too tendatively for my liking, I think we need to find out what Betts can do before seasons end, if he doesn't appear to be the answer, then an off season move is required. Don't forget, there is no cap hit in releasing Trung!
Griff
I agree Trung has to go. I think we use Betts, Rock and go try to get a feature back, who are the FA's and RFA's?

So true...I'm not a fan of Trung...he gets romped by linebackers...and probally will just end up getting hurt year after year. I like Dillon, and Taylor....but we DO NEED A GO TO GUY. This is the NFC East....not the NFC North...
BG
Fred Taylor is old. Travis Henry would be a good fit....
Hog Fever
Available free agents from the Huddle Report. Barlow is the class of this group IMO. I'd still take Taylor if his contract wasn't out of line. He's only 27 by the way. RB 1 Rudi Johnson Bengals RFA 24 RB 2 Troy Hambrick Cowboys RFA 25 RB 3 Kevin Faulk Patriots UFA 28 RB 4 Shawn Bryson Lions UFA 28 RB 5 Kevan Barlow 49ers RFA

SlobberknockerSkinsFan
I guess everyone all the sudden forgets about #40. Cartwright has been IMO the only decent, solid running back we've had this year. As we all know from history converted fullbacks are always our best running backs....see the following list: #44 John Riggins #48 Stephen Davis #37 Larry Centers (ok so he is a true fullback) #40 Rock Cartwright HAIL TO THE REDSKINS HAIL VICTORY :notworthy

Leonard Washington
none of these guys are good enough or durable enough to be the man. they are good enough for our offense.
@DCGoldPants
I traded Trung for Lamont Jordan and that worked out nicely. Honestly, I want Betts to be the starter next year.

Phat Hog
Unfortunately, it’s tough to tell how good our backs are because of the ‘committee’ scheme we run. We should feature a back for a few games at least to see what we have both in durability and skills. I think all of our injuries are in part due to the fact that no one back gets consistent playing time. At this point, I wouldn’t get rid of anyone unless Barlow fell into our laps – which is doubtful. I would feature Betts, and bring in Candidate as a ‘change of pace’ runner. Mix in Rock and I think we will do well.
Dan T.
Trung showed what he can do last week. He showed similar flashes preseason and early in the regular season until he got hurt. Then he had two games where he came back too early from his injury to be effective. When healthy, he can be an explosive part of an offense. So I wouldn't be so ready to dump him. The Evil Genius
If the Skins go for a college back, they probably should pick one who can both run out a shotgun offense (lots of traps and draws) and be able to run a lot of sweeps. Additionally, that back will need to be able to handle a pass rusher when faced with blocking. There are only a few college backs like that... freakofthesouth
Amen to Booma...Chris Perry. This kid is no joke, and NFL material. And he can block. He is versatile, and he would be a good fit for any team, including the Skins.

Those teams are not going to let those players go and will prevent that by tendering them an offer that requires the Redskins to part with a #1 and #3 draft pick to pry them loose. No way Jose. As for Shawn Bryson he is always injured and not a heavy duty back. Kevin Faulk has fumblitus and is also not a heavy duty back. So there is no upgrade here over what we already have, so whats the point? The only back who will be available who is heavy duty and will not cost a draft pick is UFA Duce Staley of the Eagles. Take him or leave him. I don't see why everyone is raving about Betts, whose 3.3 yard rushing average is subpar and the lowest on the team. I still like Trung, but maybe McCullough will pan out, who hasn't had a chance yet.
