Guest 979guy
Is it true that this is the difference between the Air Force and the Army?...
redman
You're trying to get beaten, aren't you? BTW- I'm quite sure that the top picture is of Navy guys on a carrier, not of the USAF. Note the folding wings and the bridge in the background.
NavyDave
The primary difference is that one is an armed service the other is a frat however i do love their people first bases second mantra now that I'm out cause they have great commissaries and px While waiting for the picture to download I was thinking the biggest difference was that Airforce already suffered their beatdown this year and for my birthday present this weekend Army will be next GO Navy. Guest 979guy
I stand corrected. Still, better to be a pilot or naval aviator than, well, in Iraq...
Sarge
Actually, those are squids in the first pic. The second looks like someplace I visited in Afganistan. Plus, the Air Force has real pools, olympic sized. Unless you are stationed in Hawaii, then you have scenery like this Life sucks sometimes, you know? WallyG3
I always loved passing through the Air Force bases. They always had great chow. I hooked up with a chick at Kadena AFB in Japan once, and couldn't beleive some of the stuff she was telling me about life in the USAF. They call their barracks "dorms", and she called her commanding officer "Mike". NavyDave is right, it is a frat.
Mad Mike
Originally posted by Larry I'd bet the AF has very few F/A-18's, also. Actually those are F14s in the foreground. F18s have tail fins that angle out and wings that fold up, not back.

And you should see the new dorms at Keesler AFB Ms. They are like college dorms, a far cry from what I lived in as an airman. And leadership wonders why these kids have so little discipline. The AF has always been a people/facility first organization, but at a price of slower promotions. Hell, if I had gone into the Marines I'd be a friggin 20 star general by now! Although there was a rumor for a while that if you got out of the Corps as an E-4, and then enlisted into the AF, they would bring you in as an E-5. I just couldn't bear seeing myself in a powder blue uni.

Tarhog
I'm in a good mood. So I'll take it easy on my Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, and Navy buddies. But the Army making fun of the the Air Force for having it easy :rotflmao: ?? No need to rub it in. I don't think. Although it might be kind of fun. ps - judging by the misery level in that grunt picture, I've got to believer those are jarheads guys. Semper Fi you magnificent b@stards! I thought the same thing when I saw it. I even tried zooming in on the picture, to see what the vehicles in the background were. Can't really tell, but they look like LAVs. I'd bet good money those are the 60mm mortar pits of a Marine grunt unit.

gridironmike
For you uninterested fans, be sure to check out the Army/Navy game for the pageantry. I've also heard that both teams will be wearing new breakthrough helmets based on military technology. "The helmets will have new protective qualities based upon modern technology that was recently used in the design of helmets to protect paratroopers. Both Army and Navy will not say anything more about the helmets or the technology and are waiting for the game to unveil both."

Is it reactive armor, like they have on the M1-A1, or is is simply depleted uranium?
