TK
http://www.redskins.com/story.asp?ContentID=12338 Redskins Re-Sign RB Simon; Elisara Waived 12/02/2003 The Redskins re-signed running back John Simon to the active roster on Tuesday. Simon, who is 5-11 and 202 pounds, originally joined the Redskins in Week 10 to help a running backs corps depleted by injuries. Simon played in two games for Washington, contributing two carries for nine yards and one kickoff return for 21 yards in his Redskins debut, a victory against Seattle. Two weeks later, at Miami, he had two receptions for 16 yards. He was waived last week when the team needed a roster spot for backup quarterback Gibran Hamdan. Simon spent last season with the Tennessee Titans. Signed as an undrafted free agent in 2002, Simon played in 14 games for the Titans last season, including two playoff contests. During the regular season, Simon carried the ball nine times for 18 yards, adding one touchdown rushing, and caught 16 passes for 167 yards and three scores (including one against the Redskins in a Week 4 game). He was also a standout on special teams, leading the team in both kickoff returns (20 for 371 yards) and punt returns (13 for 113 yards). He added nine kickoff returns for 201 yards in post-season play. At Louisiana Tech, Simon started 34 of 46 games and tied a NCAA Division I record by catching at least one pass in every game. He finished his collegiate career with 213 carries for 1,121 yards and five touchdowns at running back, and 262 receptions for 2,596 yards and 11 touchdowns at receiver. To make room on the roster for Simon, the Redskins waived offensive lineman Pita Elisara. The Redskins currently have a vacancy on the five-player practice squad. The team worked out a handful of players on Tuesday morning but did not officially announce a signing to the practice squad. Among the players who worked out Tuesday was former Redskins fullback/tight end Mike Sellers, who played in Washington from 1998-2000.

Redskins4Life
John Simon is a STUD RB ... he's pretty much a combo power/finesse RB. Nice to see that we have him aboard. He'd be a good fill-in since Ladell is on the mend.

Canadian Hog
I love how Redskins.com tries to put a positive spin on everything, and make it seem like every guy we are signing/re-signing is a standout/superstar.
OrangeSkin
Well, with the possible exception of Trung, Simon is better than any RB we have on the roster right now. He's certainly better than Betts and anybody who tells you otherwise is flat out wrong. He has the potential to be a feature back but is definitely an asset on third down, with his skills coming out of the backfield.
inmate running the asylum
Simon is not a stud RB but he is versatile. A combo RB/WR and punt and kickoff returner wrapped up in one.
