prophet
would you take a mid 2nd round pick for Rod Gardner?

AJWatson3
i believe he is worth more than that, and still an important part of this team.
Posse81
Probably not but I doubt we are going to get a first rounder for him either.

KirkNC
In a heartbeat. I would help him pack and drive him to the airport.
Hog Fever
No. He's not having a great year, but he's worth more than a mid 2nd isn't he?
Om
Kirk, you'll take a mid-second for a starting, productive #2 with three years under his belt? I want into your FFL.
OURYEAR#56
Y. The 49ers thought high enough to trade Owens for Gardner. Why take a second round pick, when we can get a marquee player for this guy.
Posse81
OurYear- They wanted Gardner AND and high draft pick if I remember correctly and apparently the rumor wasn't true anyway.
Symbol
No, Gardner has dropped the ball on a few occasions, but the man has only been in the league for 3 years. He hasn't had that bad of a year to boot. Our recievers are fine, look for other areas of the team.
Trevor
I wouldn't do it, maybe for a first rounder but definetly not a 2nd rounder. I just wish Rod would get better at running after the catch. Seems like he has the speed and size to make some really good RAC plays. Maybe he just doesn't have any decent moves.
Awesome
Think about it: 15th overall pick, three years as a productive starter, and you want to trade him straight up for say, the 45th overall pick? Bad idea.
Montilar
Probably not a mid second. Yet.... if the deal was worked during the draft and a player was sitting there that would instantly better the team; say a Jake Grove, a top RB like Kevin Jones or Perry or a DL that fell out of the first like Smoot did. and knowing that you have McCants resigned with Jacobs to take his spot..... then yea. Joe Sick
I am in favor of trading Gardner, just because we have McCants and Jacobs to fill in. Then that money could be used on a decent DE or RB. I would take nothing lower than top five in the second. Probably couldn't expect any higher than what he was originally drafted at (#15). Cskin
I'd grimace and probably turn down a mid 2nd, but a 1st or a very high 2nd (#33-37) and a late round (5th-6th) I'd jettison him in a heartbeat. Of course, I'd want McCants under contract for four years before I made any trade. You see, I don't like receivers with nicknames like "5-0" that describe the percentage of passes he'll catch. Additionally, I don't care for receivers who are good for one hold a game even when there is no need to do so. Finally, I don't care for players who don't play hard every play or block effectively downfield. I'd prefer the picks and the chance to draft a difference maker on the OL..... Grove C VT.....or a DL that drops out of the 1st round. Additionally, a solid project at LB in the 5th or 6th wouldn't be to bad for the following years and ST work. RF4L
As much as Gardner frustrates me, he is way better than Westbrook and we gave him, what, 15 yrs. to develop?
