I'd like some harder confirmation on this, but ... if true, it's hard not to look at this as a possible very clear signal that there may be bigger moves afoot.

Career advancement is a fine thing, but you do have to wonder if jumping from position coach in the NFL with Daddy -- meaning all kinds of promotion potential -- to OC at a mid-level college program is all that wise.

Things that make you go hmm.

Right you are, sir. Spurrier Sr. is gone at the end of the season. Voluntarily.

The entire staff is apparently looking for new jobs -- Hue Jackson, Edwards, now SS Jr.

This is as I've surmised most of the season, but now we have the concrete evidence to go along with what the little bird has been telling me for so long. :)

I wouldn't read too much into this. Edwards and Jackson are being mentioned as HEAD COACHING canidates. Thats a move that they should make every time. Any NFL assistant would look at that opportunity.

As for SS, Jr. I don't think he would be next in line to move up to offensive coordinater even if Jackson left. I think Brindise would get the job. So I think its a good career move on his part but I don't think it inidicates that Spurrier will be fired.

While I suppose you could surmise it this way, I think you might be overanalyzing this tidbit of news. But that would be waaaaayyyyy out of character for you, wouldn't it? :D

Now you don't think it could be that Spurrier has given them all warning that he might have to bring in more experienced people?? Think about it, he cares about these guys and wants them to get out before he has to do anything himself. Spurrier knows he needs someone with a lot of experience with the Defense, and then he can go back to being the OC himself.

TEG... Bob Stoops was the DC for Spurrier at UF in 96 when they won the National Championship.

SS JR also left his dad's side to go with Stoops to Oklahoma and Stoops has publically said that Jr was responsible for coaching the best core of WR's that Ok had seen in many years and that he was responsible for a great deal of their success.

I'm not really suprised by this. I think it's a step up for Jr, not a step down. Going from a position coach to OC is pretty damn good. Depending on his success, he could be a HC in the future.
