You know why we fade in the 4th quarter?

You know why we fade in the 4th quarter.....

we have no pass rush to pressure the other teams QB, making sacks or rushing throws. It is like being in a permanant prevent defense. No matter how great a defender you are, you aren't going to win everytime, especially if the QB has time to wait for the WR to get open down field.:twitch:

We scored two 4th Quarter TDs in the Panther game, scored a FG in the 4th against the Saints, scored a TD against the Seahawks also in the 4th. Dallas TD (and a 2pt coversion) in the 4th, 12 fourth quarter points against the Eagles, scored against the Giants to send it into OT.... etc

Y'all have some good points about the D fading in the 4th quarter.

But, I think the biggest problem is that the defence is tired. I was at the Saints game, and in the 4th, everyone on defense was standing around with their hands on their hips, gasping for air, waiting to line up for the next play.

The D is on the field way to much, and it catchs up to them in the 4th.

So, come on offence, generate some long drives for TD's so the defense has some time to rest.

Bubba's right. We have no pass rush unless we blitz, and then we have to take risks. Our DL is atrocious, possibly the worst in the league. Not good for protecting leads.

This is a reason to let D. Russell play fulltime for here on out and see what kind of pass rush he can generate. There is no sense in having someone of his ability sitting on the bench. You can't tell me that anyone on that D-Line has more ability than he does.

Doesn't wash.

Against the Dolphins, the Redskins had the ball for 30 minutes of the first 3 quarters, including a drive that consumed almost the entire third quarter.

And I didn't get the sense that TOP was out of whack against the Saints, either.

The reason is exactly as Bubba stated. No pressure on the QB. Bill Walsh said that the key to success in the NFL is late-game pressure on the QB, and the Redskins are living proof of that.

Good point; and it seems that when we do blitz, they are picked up fairly easily by the opposing offense

Excellent point...we can't do **** when we blitz...all it does for us is leave huge gaps for Deuce to run in, and for Steve Smith and Cmhambers to catch passes in....any NFL QB can sit back there and pick out a receiver if he has the time.
