Tax Bill

Right. If people had a list of the things their taxes could go fund. What would they pick vs. reject? I imagine fixing roads and bridges would be preferred over a top % break. Paying Police, Fire, and EMTs over a Corporate break. Public schools over private ones. Plenty would support big military spending if it wasn't overpriced billing to contractors for things they sometimes deliver on.

Not that you were suggesting this, but I don't think letting people pick where their tax dollars go would do anything positive.

I would have mine fund food stamps, but like for bourbon, and for everyone.

That would lead to fights. Make it marijuana and watch this country come together.

My boss was so generous, he paid me less so that I’d get the same amount every paycheck and I wouldn’t have to pay as much in taxes!  What a genius.

I really hope you're joking

Here's the thing, overwhelmingly the people that were expecting and counting on returns filed ASAP, to get those $$$ in their bank. That was less than anticipated but overall, not disastrous because most people in that % have a limited tax exposure.

People that were expecting to pay put it off, tend to file late/at the last minute to delay the pain of coughing it up. Some of them are working the numbers and thinking, "Uh oh..." but they haven't actually had to face it yet.

The majority of the impact is still coming, millions that are going to get boned have yet to face it. Wait until the beginning of April and see how much squealing you hear on this subject, it will be deafening.

How TF do you make more money when you are on strike for half the year??

This is why everyone HATES teachers.  :)

Maybe he used his free time at the Charles Town racetrack and casino? Or he became a part time Aldi's employee and earned a higher salary than what the state underpays teachers. 😁

Taker state?

Why should everyone else have to subsidize your state taxes?

Everyone is mad because they can't write off their sky high taxes in high tax states, and now it's everyone else's fault?

Vote in better reps and lower taxes or move to a "taker state"

Better yet don't do that.

The reality is that what you posted is almost the exact opposite of what happens. In general states with higher state taxes get less back than they send to the federal government which subsidizes poor states/states with lower state taxes. The new caps may only serve to subsidize those poor states even more.

Perhaps those higher tax states will be less likely to support govt largess when it is not federally deductible?

Nah, they will just fight to restore the deduction shielding them from their choices.

Be specific. What "gov't largess" are you referring to?

Hard to say with a straight face when the tax cuts overwhelmingly benefitted the elite of the elite at the expense of middle class homeowners.

Additionally, in the mid 1970s the California conservative movement got a Prop passed whose side effect essentially guarenteed inflated housing prices in California. Prop 13 all but eliminated the incentive to sell (unless you're moving out of state). Not sure what homeowners here are suppose to do.

Does any of this have anything to do with individual tax returns?
