bubba9497
on series we ran alot it seems we ended up punting, and all the scoring drives were more passing. The second half the run wasn't really that great, several runs of onnly 1 or 2 yards. The play everyone is upset about, the fade pass was an audible by Hassellback, not Spurrier as many want to blame. (though I still think it was a good call)
Montilar
So in the 4th we ran only twice. Wonder how that stacks up with the other games. Especially since the skins always blow it in the fourth. any correlation? Is Spurrier reverting to calling mostly passes in the fourth? Bad instincts? bubba9497
As Hassellback pointed out the last two series skewed the run pass ratio, because we were behind trying to go the length of the field quickly to score.
AzSkinsFan63
We ran the ball twice in the 4th quarter? I agree with TH that some of the quick throw calls are as good as runs..but Spurrier has a penchant for passing too much still. 42 pass plays with a first time starter at QB who's only been here 5 weeks..Kinda stupid really.. but hey he must really like losing... Skins26
Play calling was fine in my opinion. Especially on the 3rd and 2 that Tim overthrew. Coles was gonna be gone if that pass was on target. Play calling is fine, execution still isnt quite there, but we had a rusty QB playing, and we're a young team thats getting used to eachother still. We'll get there guys. jbooma
i don't see why everyone is crying. We have 16 pass and 7 runs in the third. The fouth quarter we didn't have the ball that much. We did get the FG and that 3 and 2 was a run but Tim wanted to throw to Coles who was wide open. If he hits them then we are not even talking about this today. The last 2 times we had the ball we had to pass because of time and we needed a td.
Ignatius J.
I'm also not sure if the screen passes should count as failure to run. The wide reciever screens and runningback screens were as effective if not more so than the running game, and they don't exactly entail a lot of risk.... -DB
