jbooma
We almost won the game with a backup qb, we have played all year with in reality is a rookie qb and have been in almost every game except a few. You have to give Spurrier some credit for this and what did everyone expect? We have played 10 games that were decided by 7 points or less and we are 4-6 in those games. With more experience with the QB's we will be 6-4 or better in those games. What is amazing is our backup plays better then some starters out there. ktball74
I agree. I thought 8-8 was the best we would do this year! This is a young and inexperienced team/coaches. Next year will be better. The 3rd year of a coach is the true sign!
bubba9497
Plus we are playing one of the toughest schedules in the NFL. Throw in all the injuries we have had as well
Om
And the fact that our defensive line signed a preseason non-aggression pact with opposing quarterbacks.

xanathos19
Give Steve-O three years...he said he would quit if it doesn't work after 3. Maybe next year the close games that we lose will be close games that we win...that can only come from experience.
RabidFan
all sounds great but its just excuses cause this town doesn't accept mediocrity to well.....although it breeds it within our sports teams of late
GSF
Good point Jbooma, but just to play devil's advocate here, are we hanging tough in games b/c of Spurrier or in spite of him? There's way too much talent on this team to be 4 - 8.

There's way too much talent on this team to be 4 - 8. and a lot of the talent has been injured. The Play calling has been what has kept us in these games. The problem has been the execution of the plays called. We have missed a few too many passes, or had dropped passes, or backs not running to the open hole. The Defense where a player misses an assignment here and there that leads to a big play. The quality of play is improving, and with a little more experience of playing together, and every one getting on the same page, and on the same field together at the same time. Add a pass rusher, a TE who can catch, and a RB steps up to be a starter.... watch out
freakofthesouth
Spurrier's play-calling is not the problem. I would agree that he does get a little pass-happy from time to time, but we have seens flashes from this offense that not even Miami's D can contain. It's a matter of execution, and discipline. Ol' Huey Duey Jackson may be taking off for Duke this offseason; we need to bring in an offensive coordinator that will bust some balls on offense. Let Spurrier call the plays and work on the schemes, but have an OC be in these players faces, pushing them so they can learn to execute a little better. I would never want to knock Coles, but you can't drop screen passes, especially two in one game. C'mon. And... Pat Johnson has to catch that pass at the end of the game. Yeah, it was a little behind him, and he did get hit, but he DROPPED the pass well before the hit. You can't do that on offense. And Gardner's performance was horrible. Holding calls, etc., kill this offense. It seems like our success offensively hinges on Gardner's productivity. If he has a good day, we win. And vice-versa. Granted, the real problem here is the defense, but as far as OBC is concerned, he is not to blame. The players are. And it just seems that week in and week out, the team gives up. Is this a conditioning problem? They look like they can't handle a full game; by the end, there's nothing left. To next year!
