jbooma
Sorry Champ we need to demote Edwards and hire someone with some experience. What we need for this defense is an attacking style not a reacting style. With players like Lavarr, Trotter, we are wasting their talents by having them to play to react and not to dominate  If Champ doesn't like it then trade him and get a #1. orlskinsfan
I couldnt agree more with you.....it looks like we are running a pre-season vanilla defense out on the field....edwards has no imagination with his blitzes what-so-ever

jbooma
The sad thing is the annoucers yesterday brought this up many times and they were right. We are just wasting our special players not using them the way they should be

Skins24
Who cares what Champ thinks... You do what's best for the team, not for one person. He's complaining about changing systems and all that, but despite all those changes, we stayed a top 10 defense. This year, I'd be happy if we stayed in the top 25... jbooma
I just hope that Lavar won't feel the same after next season. He has also had a new DC every year since he has been here.
SlobberKnockinFootball
What's really sad about the announcers bringing it up was that it was Brian Baldinger bringing these things up. e'ffen Brian Baldinger. That shows you how bad we are man. It's sad to be a Skins fan at this time.
Skeletor The Invincible
Personally, I don't think this team could take YET ANOTHER DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR. Geez guys, give the guy another chance. Continuity around here is a huge part in the problem this team is having. Let the guy have more than a friggin season under his belt.
SlobberKnockinFootball
I just don't think Edwards has what it takes man. Point blank. He has the same unit as he had last year and has dropped from the 5th ranked defense to 27th or 28th ranked defense? Those numbers speak for themselves my man. I don't want to rip it up and start over. But I truly believe we need a different philosophy on the defensive side of the ball. Just like the annoncer said. We are wasting the talents of our better players with this style of play.
TD_washingtonredskins
I'm with Skeletor on this one. In one breath people bash Snyder for having an itchy trigger finger and then in the next they want a new this or that. Why would we bring in a rookie D coordinator for one year, let him make mistakes for our team, only to cut him loose then...you need to reap the benefits of coaches and players making mistakes as Redskins. Keep him for at least one more year and see if he learns from any of these screw-ups. But F Champ if he doesn't want to be here.

I think the last 4 games will prove if Edwards should stay or not. He has to get more aggresive though. Every big 3rd down our defense looks as if it is in a prevent and the other team has someone wide open
Dan T.
Where's Richie Petitbone? Last we heard from him he was just kicking back, saying "I got no where I have to be, and I don't have to be there until noon." Seriously, wouldn't it be nice to have a presence like that on the coaching staff, a guy who you just knew could out strategize the opponent's OC, make QBs look confused, and maximize the talent on your squad. Richie's long gone, obviously, but where are the winners on this team, either among players or coaches, those who don't view losing as an option? skinsanity56
edwards can't take all the blame..it's not his fault we've neglected the dline in the draft ever since we blundered on lang eons ago..it doesn't matter how good your lb's & secondary is if you can't get pressure. you will be exposed no matter how good of def. scheme you run.the talent pool has finally hit rock bottom on the dline & i honestly don't think rhodes,k.schotty or lewis could get much more out of this 2nd tier bunch at this point.as we all know--it all starts up front...the players have stated numerous times also that edwards makes the right call,we're just not executing??more redskin soap opera for the offseason... Your kidding right, we have to let go of the old glory days and worry about now. Petitibone has no chance in the NFL today. It is a completely different game. Dr. D
for those that DONT want to change coaches think about the fact its much easier to change them than the players(because of the salary cap) Just because we have had 5 coordinaters is not the fault of the FO Lewis,Rhodes, Schotty, ALL WANTED TO LEAVE! Rhodes would not take the HC job. Then he did not want to come back as DC either. Schotty did not want to come back either. Marvin also left of his own volition. Well we promoted from within....hired Edwards because the players liked him and endorsed him. Well lookee lookee, it did not work out on the field. Listening to the inmates(read players) running the asylum here makes me sick. Bruce and Champ can shut their mouths and play where they are cotracted to play (if at all).. ITS A MISTAKE TO ALLOW THE PLAYERS TO DICTATE... ruins morale. besides, if we had a great (or even good for that matter) defense noone would care....... Hog Fever
So what is it, Baldinger? Are the players not being given enough freedom or are they not playing with enough discipline? The story changes every week depending on who is calling the game. How many times have our LBs being out of position cost us this year? Trotter not filling the gap yesterday and getting blown 5 yards off the ball has nothing to do with the defense.
TD_washingtonredskins
My argument wasn't to concede to Champ or Bruce...it was to take a young coach who is learning as a Redskin and give him enough time to succeed as a Redskin. I feel the same way about Spurrier. Something tells me if we cut these coaches loose after they gained experienced in Washington, this exact hierarchy would go somewhere else in the NFL and put a winning product on the field. That's what happens when you're not patient.
orlskinsfan
i think over the past month the defensive line has acutally played a lot better and provided a decent rush on the qb....but GE still has done a piss poor job putting these guys into a position to make plays.....if spurrier wants to coach beyond next year he cant afford to wait for GE to learn how to be a coach in this league...it will cost spurrier his job...demote GE back to linebackers coach and find a proven man to run these guys....the defense is the sole reason this year has been a washout....if we had a top 5 defensive unit on the field this year the skins would be a playoff contender

Not kidding about getting someone with the presence of a Petitbone as DC, a guy who you were confident could outcoach the guy on the other side of the field and get the most out of the players he had. My sense with this team is we'll do just enough to lose late on D. And that gets to coaching. Plus I love his line about "nowhere to be and don't have to be there til noon." skinsanity56
if we're going old school with a new def. coach, lets bring back buddy ryan.that way when SOS gets into his passing kick all he'll need to do is raise the fist..,maybe give a player a shot or two also when they freelance..lol... Burgold
I think Edwards should return. There have been glimpses of improvement. Just no killer instinct and the will seems missing. Besides, yesterday was much more about missed tackles and blown opportunities. Mind you, I would like to pressure the quarterback more and be high risk. heck, if bending but not breaking and being conservative ends up with higher and higher point defecits, perhaps some liberal blitzing and gambling would benefit us. orlskinsfan
my complaint with the defense is whenever the opponent has to make a play the defense gives it to them....GE calls a defense that is a reacting style instead of an attacking style.....with the playmakers we have on that side of the ball we need to be attacking
