Is anybody here actually a fan of Biden's?  At the start of the process, did anybody here really want Biden as the winner?

Me personally hell no. But at the end of the day, I will vote for any Dem over Trump.

Want to be president or want to face Trump because if best chance to win?

Words cant describe how I feel you asking that and hes about to be the nominee. We had 4 years to find someone else to run against Truno that hopefully people wanted to be president versus holding their noses like they did in 2016. 4 years.

Whoever is advising Biden for the general election better coach him up on how to better handle the Burisma/Hunter stuff.  Is it nonsense to begin with? Yes. However that doesn't mean the GOP isn't going to be going with it full force the day Biden officially becomes the nominee. It is a given.  You also have Steve Mnuchin handing over endless financial documents on the entire Biden family to the DOJ/William Barr so who knows what else they are looking to cook up for the summer/fall election season.

Biden is basically going to be running against Trump and the DOJ.

I feel you but hes not half as bad a candidate as Hilldog. Not that I really thought she was bad enough to lose to Trump. But he has wayyyy less baggage - real or otherwise. And his husband was never part of child prostitution rings in the basement of Pizza shops. Atleast that we know of.

Thats where i'm at. Biden would not be in my top 5 choices of the candidates who ran this cycle, but at his core, biden is not an evil person who lacks compassion or empathy. That alone makes him better than the current occupant.

Thing is, Trump being his opponent is the antidote to his biggest weakness. Biden’s gaffes are nothing compared to the constant crazy that comes out of Trump’s mouth.

Biden certainly isn't my first choice, but I think he's a good man who means well and has enough political experience to have some efficacy.  I think of him as a high-floor/low-ceiling presidential prospect.  He'll never be Lincoln or FDR (or Obama/Clinton for that matter), but he certainly wouldn't be a disaster.  He's safe, and fine.  He's a thousand times better than the disaster currently occupying the white house, so he'll get my vote for sure.

They need to turn it around and go after Trumps kids the exact same way.  They wanna fire up the justice dept. on his son? Fire up the House into Ivanka and tweedle dee and tweedle dum.

I usually don't care about VP picks but I hope Biden picks someone that is legitimately seen as an individual who has potential to take the reigns in 2024.  I don't see Biden doing this gig for 8 years and I would like to see the VP be someone younger, inspiring, and with a clear vision for the future, opposed to Biden himself who's campaign message is basically, "We need to get the crazy out of the White House, and worry about the rest later"

This is super important. Biden's role is to bring us back to sanity, his VP is the future.

But sanity sounds pretty damn good to me right now.

That's fine, but he can't be Jimmy Carter and just be safe after a disaster of a GOP president that shook our country to its core. that is my fear.

Well have to hand it to the Dem candidates actually doing what the Republican candidates should have done four years ago.  Stopping Bernie would have been hard to do if Klobucher and Buttigeig hadn't dropped out and endorsed Biden.  Bloomberg now essentially completes the deal.  Wouldn't surprise me if the Dem establishment approaches Warren to ask her to stay in the race to further reduce the risk of a Bernie nomination.

My one concern is Biden may have to win to prevent the dems from going full on crazy/Sanders equivalent next time around. (Which could get us into a vicious cycle of crazy following crazy)

Bidens gaffes dont seem to stick with him. Trump's only used to that standard being applied to him

Looks like it will be officially a two person race soon.

Roger Lau, Warren’s campaign manager, sent an all-staff email to the campaign Wednesday morning thanking them and explaining that the candidate will make a decision about her path forward in coming days.

also, as dumb as it is, trump can just say “socialist” for the next 7 months and has a good chance of winning against sanders.

he’s going to have to run a real campaign against Biden. They’ll try the smear stuff but reality is they’re going to have to deal with the animosity towards his administration and his general ability to look like a clown every time he speaks.

biden is easily viewed as a “safe” alternative to people who are not happy with trump but don’t want the sanders platform. At worst he’ll be ineffective at meaningful legislation but won’t blow things up on a daily basis.

which is a pretty easy thing to “buy” at this point for a lot of people

(at least that’s how I see things)

In normal times, biden would not have a shot. I dont think he inspires much in terms of wanting to vote FOR him. Luckily for him, these are the antithesis of normal times. Not being trump will be sufficient enough for me. I'm hoping there an internal agreement that he's one shot and out. Let his VP & others battle it out in 4 years.
