Safe to say Pat doesn't get anything special on his birthday from his wife....I feel bad for the guy

He was allegedly more of a young babysitter fan..at least according to the stories I heard growing up in Virginia Beach the late 80s/early 90s .

Wisconsin Election Fight Heralds a National Battle Over Virus-Era Voting

And in a decision late Monday capping the election-eve chaos, the U.S. Supreme Court’s conservative-leaning majority dealt its own blow to Wisconsin Democrats. In a 5-4 vote, the majority ruled against their attempt to extend the deadline for absentee voting in Tuesday’s elections, saying such a change “fundamentally alters the nature of the election.” The court’s four liberal members dissented, with Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg writing that “the court’s order, I fear, will result in massive disenfranchisement.”

Honestly that’s probably the least concerning part of this for me.  Somewhere behind spurring on new outbreaks and the US Supreme Court piling on and holding Wisconsin down while the state GOP take turns kicking the people of Wisconsin to death.

Why is it assumed that all this would-be mail in ballots would favor the left?  Couldn't it be suppressing everyone equally?  Honest question from someone who doesn't follow that state closely.

Based on convos from GOP nationally, they trying too hard to get in the way out of fear it will benefit democrats more.

I can see some equalizing here in both sides having to go to polls if everyone can't vote by mail.  But this is if looked in a vacuum, not a global pandemic, which could get folks on both sides killed.

We can either get on the same page now or wait to have these conversations for the general instead of primaries.  It's going to be a ****-show if a second spike starts happening around November and either stay at home orders arent lifted or put back in place based on how GOP is acting now in April.

@visionary is right we have months to figure this out.  We also had months to prepare for this pandemic, and look what politics did to that...

Obviously, there'd be both.

But at least for now, crowded urban areas are being hit a lot harder than sparsely populated areas. (Go figure). I've read claims that in Milwaukee, the number of voting locations has gone from 160 to 18, because they don't have enough un-quarantined people to man the other ones.

So, the claim is that the epidemic is going to have the effect of cutting turnout by a huge amount, in the urban areas

Now yes, that's claims. But if you want to see how much credibility those claims have?

Look at how the R's unanimously are voting, and how the D's are unanimously voting. Every single politician, of both Parties, knows that this system will hugely favor the R's. (The R's just approve of that.)

How many voters in urban areas will be stuck waiting in line for hours with even less polling places open for them because of this?  Though maybe they won’t have to wait until nighttime to vote now.  Assuming people actually go out to vote.

I keep posting that Oregon has total vote by mail system. Ballots are sent to all registered voters, voters mark their ballots, then either mail them in or drop them into public ballot boxes like mail boxes. Then they are counted on election day. No political party has an advantage. Plus Oregon automatically registers voters. This article and video explains the process. Pretty easy and foolproof.

THe reason it is an advantage for Republicans is they are more likely to think the coronavirus is just a hoax and take it less seriously than the Democrats.  Republicans are more likely to think the federal government has done enough to mitigate the threat and it is therefor safe to go vote.  The Democrats don't share those convictions and thus have to weigh whether it is worth risking their lives to vote.  It is a threat only one party feels when deciding whether to go vote.

Leave off whether the Democrats or Republicans are correct about the risk to personal health incurred by going to vote.  The fact only one side feels the disincentive to vote is why the Republicans favor this outcome.

Turnout is the question. You know the GOP’s attitude to this, so they will come out to vote. I am not so sure about the Dems; especially with the lack of enthusiasm for Joe.  Also, in GOP controlled states; there are going to be fewer polling areas in Democratic parts of that state. The GOP is going to use the pandemic to steal the election and not just at the presidential level.

But yet conspiracy theorists first response to calling them out on their b.s. is, "common, think about. Think for yourself."
