Nancy will most certainly be reelected, (on election day) so I'm cool with a President Pelosi until **** gets figured out.

I might actually dance. (It usually takes an extreme amount of booze for that to happen).

Or a WFT win. 😉

agreed unless they declare the entire election under protest so all results are ignored.  In fairness not sure if this actually happens, but that was the scenario i was talking about.

I saw a short excerpt of an answer regarding whether the Military would "escort Trump out if he loses but refused to leave" The answer was basically "No, the military has no role in elections" which is fine on the surface, but it also feels like either an incomplete answer or lack of a good follow up question.  The next question should have been that because Trump is the commander and chief, should he lose, and then start ordering the military to arrest/detain/whatever Biden or Pelosi, or anyone trying to certify results, would the military refuse his orders, as commander and chief, based on the same constitutional principles he just referenced during the first part of the answer.

I don't think it's a good idea to be asking the military about hypotheticals. The way they answered is fine. I don't think these military leaders love Trump more than the Constitution so I'm not worried about what they will do.

Wasn't sure where to post this - so here seemed as good as any. I am sure many of you listen to/watch this guy but this clip is one of the more relevant and he seems a bit more pissed (less cheeky - more **** you). I find him therapeutic some times and this is one of those times. As is normal, he is spot on.

OK, my understanding is if the election doesn't happen, then the most senior senator left, president pro tempore of the chamber, would be POTUS.

Based on who's left it would be a democrat, because of how many terms would end, including Mitch.  Pelosi's would end as well, the house would be empty so no one would be speaker.

Now if election happens and Trump ignores it, Pelosi is sworn in at the house on 1/3, then when Trump turn ends, if shes still speak erof the house she could be sworn in as president as line of succession.

This is if Biden isn't sworn in anyway as president-elect (which he should, even if not at the capitol), Trumps term ends in middle of the day, if he says he's not leaving but Biden is sworn in, technically Trump is jus saying that.

They wouldn't swear Biden in without secret service being there, they may take nuclear football from Trump and skip the motorcade from capitol to white house (or throw him out en route).

I posted the article, did you read it?

No election and the GOP senators would be minority and dems can vote someone else asap and nothing GOP can do about it. Filibuster?

That would be Patrick Leahy.

I'm not a constitutional lawyer, but choosing for peace of mind to let this play out unless I see something that blows this up.

Difference between what could happen (which is too open ended) and what will happen (which is easier to narrow down and debate / research)

there's so much that gets to me about cnn, but their positive offset---inc their focused specials and original programming---is strong

you should try to see this "after truth: disinformation-something" film when you can...it's got a bunch of great footage of slimy, nutter, and roger stone type dirty trick stuff in recent elections as well as other stuff (only seem soem of it so far, but it's been awesome)

Only thing on CNN I still watch regularly is Fareed Zakaria GPS. Too much of the other stuff is the same mind-numbing format - 2 redneck partisans and 2 hyperliberals screaming the days talking points over each other. That's not balance. Most of all, it's simply not news.

Something doesn't smell right, why would libertarians openly want authoritarianism? What independents fall in line after they left GOP just to say they werent sheep then bhah anyway? Ya know, what independents are we talking about here?
