The shock from the left that this is a close race just goes to show that they didnt learn from the loss in 2016. To me that loss was people being fed up and pissed off at the arrogance from the left, and this election is just showing that it hasnt changed. Will this being so close, whichever way it goes, get the left to finally realize that something needs to change if they want reach more people? I think so many people that would normally be in the middle are voting Trump because of that.

Trump is extremely divisive, but I dont think the left is that far behind just in a different way.

I agree with you, but I wouldn't call it arrogance, but only from lack of a better word. I'm sorry, but if you're a minority and voting for Trump, you're an idiot. if you're a woman and voting for Trump, you're an idiot. if you don't have health care and voted for Trump, you're an idiot. Other than calling these people out for the idiots that they are, what else can you do? You can't reason or be logical with them, it doesn't register. All you can do is either lie to them like Trump does or force socialist legislation on them, let them fall in love with it (social security, medicare, medicade, etc) and then remind them of who gave them said programs. If they're not too stupid to understand...

I think the left can be condescending at times because they come at things from a scholar-like perspective.  It doesn't make them wrong on the issues, but perhaps how they deliver?  Also, when you are a big tent party it is hard to  be all things for all people at the same time. I think the GOP has done a marvelous job at becoming a populist "White grievance" destination for a lot of white folks who have been misinformed and lied to about what minorities are trying to fight for.   I live in CA and I know plenty of people even here who subscribe to the "white people just can't catch a break" nonsense.  It is weird to me and kind of scary because the GOP has gotten away with not really having to run on any kind of policy for going on about 20 years now and they still win lots of elections.

By "you should have read the thread instead" I meant it's funnier and more enjoyable than whatever news outlet you went to instead lol...

It feels a alot funnier now.  When I woke up, the first thing I saw was some nerdy dude with glasses on MSNBC saying "The democrats have to feel gut punched at what they are witnessing at all levels, house, senate, presidency...." and I was hoping it was merely a bad dream.

ill admit my anonymous Twitter account where I just laughed at maga and Q people while pointing out their conspiracy-addicted soggy sloped frontal lobes may not have been the most productive use of my free time. But it was quite therapeutic

Agreed.  They didn't learn.

It's easy to call Trump voters idiots, hicks, rural rubes, low information voters, racists, because...well, they are.  :ols: But calling them those things isn't going to want them to see the left's point of view and come around to them.  The beatings will continue until the morale improves, as the old saying goes.  You bring up being fed up and being pissed off at the arrogance of the left, well, they still are and it's not a wonder as to why.

IMO, the politicians and elected officials can only do or say so much.  True change should start with us.  It's really easy to dismiss a family member or a friend as a Trump Humper and yell at them or ignore them altogether.  Some of them can't be reached, that's just the nature of things.  But I believe that some of them could come around on logic and facts if they're presented in an eye-to-eye type of way, not being yelled at, insulted or talked down to.  Won't happen overnight, won't happen next week, might take awhile.  Unfortunately we're a society of people that's grown accustomed to having everything happen immediately, the long game is a foreign concept.  People on the left shouldn't be surprised to go "Hey, check out these facts and how they affect you..." and then not have it take immediately.  It'll take persistence at an eye to eye level.
