As someone who is now part of the problem as a centrist democrat (which I never considered myself as such, but apparently if I'm not down with the DSP platform, I'm just all in on continuation of the corruption in this country), I'm close to being out.

As a former moderate Republican and now a conservative independent, I'll say Bernie has lost my vote and is getting further and further away from getting it back each time he opens his mouth.  Wife asked today what if he named AOC or someone from her cult as VP.  I said I'd possibly vote Trump or at very least a write in.  Devil you know, etc.

Can't believe I'm saying that.  This whole thing is just stupid.  Feel like this country needs an enema on both extremes.

The problem is that I'm not convinced that employing the same methods in pursuit of liberal goals are that much of an improvement.  It may even do greater harm in the long run for the country to have both parties do it back to back.

we need to drag the Overton window back to the middle at worst if not more . Repeated centrism and meeting republicans “halfway” has just pushed us so far into right wing lunacy that we consider basic standards that every other democracy in the world has to be socialism.

we need a large change and perhaps Trump was the watershed moment for our country to finally enact it.

lol come on. You’ve been doing this for years on here. “Not a trumper” but every Dem candidate has to jump thru hoops to earn your vote and now you’ll vote for Trump depending on Bernie’s VP pick.

there is no world where Bernie Sanders is a worse choice for a democracy than Trump but I guess you’d rather risk democracy itself than potentially risk everyone having quality healthcare simply because he’s hasn’t made nice with everyone in his speeches.

stunning really

It will be funny watching Trump run as a populist against Bernie at least. If populism is what the electoral college relevant states want, Bernie is going to make Trump look like the absolute fraud that he is.

Bernie isn’t winning the sunbelt states where a moderate Dem would be competitive but people are fooling themselves if they think he won’t outflank Trump’s phony populism in the Rust Belt.

Yea that's me.  Ignore where I've said I'd vote for EVERY single Dem EXCEPT Bernie (and Tulsi if she had a chance).

Edit:  Bernie's VP pick will be very important.  If he picked a moderate like Pete or someone else similar who isn't on stage yet, that might pull my vote.

Sanders is awful. I cannot believe thats who is going to be the alternative to trump.

way to go democrats. Really came through this time.

I don’t really have anything against Bernie personally. He genuinely wants to help people and truly believes his philosophy is the best way to do the most good. I just disagree with him about that theory and I also think he’ll be an ineffective president.

No matter who the nominee is, they aren't getting anything done without controlling the senate.

Something. Major like MFA or Green New Deal, no, but I expect him to stop siding with Israel in the UN in everything for example.  The Executive Branch is still overpowered and would definitely not get in the way of investigations on the previous administration.  Everything they tried to hide will come to light at minimum, right?

I don’t think that actually is an argument. He has as good of a chance as any candidate to take the Senate.

after that, I don’t think he will be afraid to wield power and enact the type of change he would have won on and believed in for decades

he won’t get everything but I think he can get some good stuff done.

tulsi as VP would be a huge letdown. But Warren? There is a report he has looked into whether she could be VP and treasury secretary. that would be a fantastic ticket.

Burnie Sanders isn’t going to blow smoke up peoples asses and tell them he needs them if they don’t want to vote for his ideas. It’s understandable if you are offended by that when you consider how different that is from the norm. Even more so if you allow yourself to be triggered by the worst social media has to offer. Which is a thing even the smartest among us fall prey to in 2020.

For me, if you won’t vote against Trump I ain’t really gonna come calling for you. But I won’t begrudge you either cause it’s not helpful. I just hope personally that we can give some of his ideas a go, they work, and people start to see that we can do things differently then how they have always been done and have some success.

I continue to think Pete would be the perfect VP for him. Get him some experience. Have a contrasting and more moderate opinion in the house. Possible set him up for a presidential run of his own where he won’t necessarily be tied to Burnies politics because we will already know he’s more moderate. Thats my best case. It can easily not be so rosy

As long as Gabbard isn’t the VP, I’ll feel the Bern.

If Warren is the VP, I’ll go door to door...starting at Spiff’s house.

I could go for Pete with any of the Old Farts.  (Although I assume that if it's Bernie/Pete, then he will just be a token, with no influence.)

If I got nothing but business as usual (pre Trump) and this I would consider it a success.

Agreed, even if he doesnt get the senate, at minimum the purging of our government of people not loyal to Trump stops.  At the end if the day, that's really what this should be about to keep this a referendum on authoritarianism, not democratic socialism. What's worse, something half the country doesnt like, or something half the country doesnt like and wont be able to stop or change in the next election?

Certainly won't be bringing the country back together at all.

You really think these was a universally supported candidate in this election that would bring the country back together? Someone was always going to have to give something they want up in this. It just happens to be people with your political persuasions this time.

I don’t know how you expect one elected official to bring the country back together when you know one person didn’t rip it apart.

The country ain't coming back together till right wing media dies.

Sorry, but to come together, at the very least, there needs to be a recognition that Truth exists.

There isn’t a candidate in this country who could accomplish that.

Populism is very divisive and it’s apparent that it works in this country from either side. Ultimately the blame is entirely on the miserable education system of this country and how right wing media exploited it for decades to bring us to this Trumpian bull**** dystopia. Only in a country full of dweebs and imbeciles could Rush et all spread their propaganda and turn an entire group of voters into mindless drones detached from reality.
