Spiff, are those yours? Do I have your permission to make a painting from one or two of them?

Sure are.  And yeah, feel free.

Took this with my phone last month. It's the Na Pali coastline in Kauai.

At the highest point, it's almost 4x the height of the Empire State Building.

Another beautiful day of birds...

Damn dude, how do you manage to get all those pics of owls? We have owls living around our house, but I still haven't even caught a glimpse of them even though I hear them all the time.

Well, each of those owls required driving 3+ hours from home...  I'm a kind of obsessed birder/bird photographer, so I do all kinds of crazy things to get the birds/photos I want.  My wife barely tolerates it...

Kinda curious, what tactics do you use?

I saw a woodpecker with a white bill, looked pretty cool.

There's no one specific tactic.  The main thing is to know your subject really really well.  I've been birding for ~15 years, and generally have a pretty good sense of what I'm going to see (or what I'm hoping to see) every time I go out.  I know the birds preferences regarding weather, habitat, food, etc, and plan accordingly.

(I'm not taking the woodpecker bait).

To keep us on track, here are some more pics...
